Dear Trimble Support Team,

we are currently evaluating the use of the Trimble 3D Viewer and would like to request further clarification regarding data privacy and compliance aspects. Specifically, we would appreciate detailed information on the following points:

  1. Server Locations: Where exactly are the user data and project files stored when using the Trimble 3D Viewer? We understand from your community forum that there are server locations in Europe, North America, Asia, and Australia — could you confirm which of these regions apply to our account or region?
  2. Data Transfers: To which countries may user data be transmitted or accessed from during the use of the 3D Viewer? Are there any third-party service providers involved in data processing, and if so, where are they located?
  3. Data Residency Options: Is it possible to ensure that data remains within a specific geographic region (e.g., within the EU) to comply with local data protection regulations such as the GDPR?

We would be grateful for any documentation or references to your data handling policies that could support our internal compliance review.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Best regards

Stefan Mikula

Hey, I'd recommend you get in touch with your local Trimble distributor, this is a community page, I don't think official Trimble team would reply you here.

Trimble is an US company, I don't think there is going to be any data security issue for EU.

Hi, I'm also interested in learning more about this.

The issue I’m facing is that I don’t even need anything to be uploaded to any server, yet the software is constantly trying to upload data. It’s already frustrating that this desktop software won’t function unless it's connected to the internet every single day—otherwise, it simply won’t run.

Dear Stefan,

I work for a Trimble Italian company, and in Italy the clients often request this information for security assessment compliance, GDPR, ISO and NIS2. You can find much of the information you requested at this link: https://trust.trimble.com/.

In my experience, by registering on the portal I mentioned, you can access many documents and reports containing the data you requested, and you can also ask questions directly to the people in charge.

I hope this was helpful!
Best regards,
A.
