Hi all,
I am new to this community and i have a question. I received a IFCZIP file from my construction compagny for the steel frame for my furture house. But they cant (or wont) help me to export this to a STP file. As i am not a civil engineer but a product engineer that uses Solid Works i can not use the original file. I already looked around but apparently i need to download the Multi Coverter tool, but this is a non free tool and its not interesting for me to do that as i am only using this 1 time for 1 export to STP that i can open in my own Solid Works files.

Now My question is if there is someone who would be so kind to make an export for me from IFCZIP to STP file. That would allow me to construct on that file for the rest of the construction of the build.

So if anyone whould be willing to help me that would be well appreciated.

kind regards,

Hi Ronald,
This is not possible through Trimble Connect.

Hi Ronald, I have just sent you an email. Given the image, I suspect that the structure was set up in Tekla Structures. Tekla has the ability to export directly to STP. At Byldis we work with Tekla and I can support you with this. I recently set up a workflow to export from Sketchup files to STP without using additional applications. I also use Tekla for this purpose.

Hi,
From a Tekla Structures model you can use this application: Multi converter

Actually, the solution wasn't even that hard afterwards! It is right (@Alexandre Collin) to note that the MultiConverter Tool is doing its job. Only when there is no cooperation from the supplier do we have to get creative. Looking at the Solid Works import options, IFC also just appears to be listed. Only, an IFCzip is not. Requesting an IFC from the supplier then seems like the simplest solution, especially if files need to be exchanged more often. In this situation, the expectation is that it will only be needed once. The IFCzip file is extracted using the standard windowns UNzip functionality. The IFC file then becomes available and the processes run again.
