Classification

04-20-2021 05:47

This method will combine a Classification task with a Plan Presentation for layer naming and coloring in DWG.

  1. Using the Classification method will require that the project has one or more Classification tasks with Classes as subtasks.
A Classification task can be created from the Insert ribbon in Novapoint.
  2. Create a Plan Presentation task including the tasks and features to export.
In the Plan Presentation select the appropriate Presentation Setup to get the separation of features and coloration as needed in the DWG.
  3. Start the DWG export task from the Output ribbon.
  4. Select the Plan Presentation to be included in the export.
  5. Select the coloring method in the DWG.
  6. Select the LayerMapping 'Field Code Set' from the drop-down list.
  7. Press the cogwheel to enter a dialog to set the layer mapping.
  8. Add new rows and pick the classification task to read from and if you would like to read the 'Code' or 'Description'.
  9. Add a separation if needed.
The separation will split the second part to be written to the 'Description'-part of the CAD layer name.
  10. Close the dialog and complete the Export task with OK.

Dataset Example

The dataset has a main road, a secondary road, and an intersection area.

The dataset also has two classifications, one for separating road tasks, one for separating features inside any road task.

Selecting a pavement layer for one of these roads in the Quadrimodel will show the classifications in the properties.
Here we see that the Base Course 1 for the Main Road is selected.

Export Example

Create a Plan Presentation with the tasks for our road and intersection. Use a Presentation Setup that splits and shows the tasks in a good enough way. Here we have used 'Basic Map' for the example.

Create a export task to DWG. Pick the Plan Presentation to use. Choose to use Field Codes.

Start the dialog through the cogwheel and add classifications to use.
The first classification group will be the layer name in CAD.
The second classification group after the delimiter will be the layer description in CAD.

Press OK to complete the export to CAD.

Check the file to see that the data is exported as requested.

Note that the Layer Name and Layer Description are reversed, as requested in the classification grouping dialog in the previous step.
