Novapoint Road Library

Use this function to analyze two elements, which can be alignments or CAD 2D or 3D lines, polylines, and arc elements. The function is similar to an inquiry command, which calculates and lists the mathematical details of the selected elements.

• The analysis will be carried out to the common length of the selected lines. E.g.: Among the two selected alignments, which have chainage of 1280.0m and 950.0m, the analysis will be carried out for common length, which will be less than or equal to 950.0m.
• The analysis will be carried at the specified interval.
• All the results will be displayed as the interval specified
• Details at desired chainage (station) can be obtained.
• The result summary can be copied to the clipboard and from there to other programs, such as Notepad, Excel, or Word.

The analysis will be done for the following details:

• Delta
  • Horizontal distance between the selected lines
  • Vertical distance between the selected lines
  • Difference in angle
  • Difference in grade
• Type
  • Horizontal element number
  • Horizontal element type
  • Vertical element type
  • Vertical element number
• Coordinate
  • Northing, Easting, and Elevation values
• Bearing
  • Bearing angle
  • Gradient.

Run the function from the following locations:

MOUS_ICO Toolbar: Alignment Analysis:  Distance between two Alignments
MOUS_ICO Menu: Road > Alignment Analysis > Distance between two Alignments…
MOUS_ICO Ribbon: Alignment Analysis: Distance between two Alignments Distance between two Alignments

The dialog box Distance between lines will pop up.

• The upper part of the dialog box has fields Master line, Second line, ellipse buttons ( and ) and fields Stations.
• Use the ellipse button () to select the alignment from the database and the select button () to select the CAD elements.
• Select the two entities, between which analysis is to be carried.
• The dialog box Quadri Lines will pop up with the button (), which lists all the alignments available in the database.
• When pressing  user is allowed to pick the elements from the CAD drawing.

The identity of the selected elements is displayed at the fields Master/Second Line and the From Station and To Station values are displayed at the fields Station.

• The last station number to be included in the calculations and the station interval of the calculations can be specified for both the master line and the second line on the Input ML and Input SL tabs respectively. Also, extra station numbers to be calculated can be specified.
• Define the interval in the column Interval.
• Define the extra stations if any, which are to be calculated apart from the stations as per interval.
• The button Options opens the dialog box Select coordinate system where users can specify the relation between the coordinate system in the database and the current UCS in CAD.
• Click the button Calculate to perform the calculations (this can be availed only when both the Master line and Second line are defined).
• When the calculations are finished the results are listed on the spreadsheets found under the tabs Type, Coord, Delta, and Bearing.
• The results should be self-explaining.
• The distances between the lines are listed on the Delta page while different data for each line is shown on the other pages.

This dialog box can be activated for many functions when a Quadri line identity is to be initiated.

• All the lines available in the database (Quadri model) will be listed in this dialog box.
• Select the desired Quadri object and click OK to initiate the object.
• The object names can be renamed using the button Rename.
  • The object properties such as object name, group number, and feature code can be edited using the button Rename.
  • The dialog box Quadri Lines will pop up with the button Rename.
• Use the button Delete to delete the line from the database.
  • There is no Undo option.
