It is now possible to add Navisworks (.NWD & .NWC) model files to the project and view them in 3D using the Connect for Windows application.

The Navisworks model viewing is released as a BETA feature

In this stage of the BETA period, the NWD & NWC file formats support plain 3D viewing only. The files cannot be used in other workflows, like for example in creating Views, ToDos or Clash checks. Also, there may be some models that are not rendered correctly or some property data may be incomplete.

Step 1: Upload Your File

Download the latest version of Trimble Connect for Windows (version 1.11 or newer) from the Trimble Connect App Store and install on your computer

Note: if you already have Trimble Connect for Windows on your machine, verify you are using the latest version. Update if necessary. Version 1.11 or later required.
Sign in to Trimble Connect
Open your project
Click Add file

Alternatively: drag & drop a .NWD or .NWC file from Windows Explorer
Using the file explorer, navigate to a Navisworks (.NWD or .NWC) file and select it
Click the View button
Once the file has been processed it will appear in the 3D view.
Upload the file to cloud

Step 2: View the File on the Web

Go to the Connect for Browser 3D Viewer in https://3d.connect.trimble.com
Select a model file by clicking it in the Models panel
To view the file, click the Load model icon

Note: If the download is complete but you are not seeing your model, it may be because of the zoom level. In the Overflow Menu - select the option Fit to View

hi, can you advise if this feature is supposed to allow .nwc files to be brought into Tekla Structures (2023 sp10) as an overlay model?

I have the latest version of Trimble Connect installed, but I am still unable to view a 10MB NWD file. Are there any other solutions that I can try to view an NWD file?
