Make Path, Values

04-19-2021 15:13

Use this function to define the values (such as maximum radius of arcs in the path, the minimum radius of arcs in the path, friction values, slope, and speed) for the vehicle track analysis path.

  • While defined and editing the vehicle track analysis path, a number of values related to the vehicle path are used.
  • These values can be defined in the dialog 'Make/Edit Path' called from this function.

Run the function from the following locations:

MOUS_ICO Toolbar: Vehicle Track Analyzer - Make/Edit Path: Make Path, values
MOUS_ICO Menu: Road > Vehicle Track Analyzer > Make/Edit Path > Make Path, values…

The dialog 'Make/Edit Path' will pop up.

Maximum Radius (meter) 500.00 in Arc/Line
Minimum Radius (meter) 12.50
Angle (Degree) 90.00 in Fixed Angle
Friction 0.30
Slope 0.02
Speed (Km/h) 5.00

Maximum Radius (meter) and Angle (Degree)

Kindly refer the topics 'Path by Arcs' and 'Fixed Angle'.

Minimum Radius (meter)

Minimum turning radius, which shall be the larger of two values.

  1. The value given for the current vehicle. It may be calculated from the value maximum turning angle. Kindly refer to the topic 'Select Vehicle'.
  2. The value calculated from speed (V), slope (s) and friction (f) using the American Standard (AASHTO) equation:

R = V^2/(127*(s+f))

Friction

This is the coefficient of friction of the driving area.

  • The value depends on the material, temperature, new/well-used surface, etc.
  • Authorities specify a minimum value, which the surface also has to meet after years in use.
  • See the values shown in the table below.

Tire-Surface friction Coefficients

Values refer to the level surface with all wheels of the vehicle locked and sliding.

The value is used in the above calculation of minimum radius.

Slope

The slope is the superelevation of the driving area. The value is a decimal number, e.g. 0.020. The value is used in the above calculation of minimum radius.

Speed

Speed is in km/h. In the function 'Controlled' the speed is used in the calculation of transition curves.

The speed is used in the above calculation of minimum radius.
