The same dialog box is reachable via Change…, the title then is Change road/railroad instead of New road/railroad, the functionality is otherwise alike.

Popup menu: New…
In this dialog box, we pick the centre line of the road or railroad and give a road identification for the first profile.
Road identity
Category
Here the road's type is entered. The type is also shown behind the text Road identity. By selecting JV as Category, the line is defined as a railroad, as opposed to the other road types.
Number
Here the road's number is entered. The number is also shown behind the text Road identity: as the first 4 digits after the value stated as Category.
Section
Here the section number of the section where the starting point of the road line lies is entered. The section number is also shown behind the text Road identity: as the last 4 digits.
Centerline
Prior to defining the horizontal alignment line of the road, preliminary work has to be done in the terrain model, see Preparing of roads in the terrain model.
Select line <
All dialog boxes are closed, and we get the opportunity to select what is going to be the horizontal alignment line of the road. The selected line has to be a polyline. As we return here the line is calculated, and its length is shown. We may change the selection by selecting or drawing another line.
Draw line <
All dialog boxes are closed, and we get the opportunity to draw (digitize) a horizontal alignment line. This is relevant in cases where just road edges and not the centerline are on the map. Continuous points are entered along the road, where the centre line is to be located. Some deviance may be tolerated in the lateral direction. When the last point is entered, press <Enter> to get back to the dialog box.
It is recommended to draw a line in advance using standard AutoCAD functions (see roads_and_railroads), in preference to draw it “directly” here.
Metering
Start
The road line's start chainage number. This has no importance for the calculations but can be stated to get in accordance between the chainage numbers in Novapoint Noise and the ones used elsewhere in the reference system.
Length
The length of the currently selected line.
Misc.
OK
The dialog box is closed. The new road is registered and is entered into the list in the Dialog box. New roads have noise sources established, these are entered at 5 meters intervals along the road. Further, the gradients are calculated in each of them. It is important that all preliminary work in the terrain model is done before pressing OK (see Preparing of roads in the terrain model).
Cancel
The dialog box is closed without the road being defined (or without changing road data).
