This is an onboarding document for next gen Geosuite Presentation MVP, which is currently in its early release phase. 

While we are excited to offer you access to the latest features and improvements, please be aware that there may be unforeseen issues, limitations or bugs that could affect your experience. We are actively working to resolve any problems and appreciate your understanding and patience during this period.

What is Included in the MVP?

This MVP introduces several new features that were not implemented in the current Geosuite Presentation.

• Brand new Desktop application with modern appearance

• Web application - allowing access to Geosuite from e.g. mobile or tablet

• Possible to export projects from current Geosuite Presentation (.dbsx) and import them in to next gen Geosuite Presentation

• Additional laboratory data

• New graphical presentation of soundings in the desktop application

• Interactive data filters

• Map functionality with WMS layers and heat maps

• Cloud based storage instead of local file based storage

• Basic CAD functionalities

• Added additional properties such as field status and remarks on methods to improve field planning

Limitations and changes from Geosuite presentation

Major changes from current Geosuite Presentation:

• The file based storage system is replaced with a cloud based storage system.

• WinRIT is deprecated and will not be used in the next gen Geosuite Presentation. Currently there is a graphical presentation for methods that we are working on.

• Data from raw data files (STACK files) is now stored as is, meaning that no transformation is made when importing data from field drilling files.

Limitations:

The MVP has certain limitations that will be addressed in future releases, see Upcoming work and releases.

• Not all methods included in current Geosuite Presentation is available in next gen presentation meaning risk of data loss when exporting data from current presentation to next gen
• Not possible to use user specific drawing settings for CAD
• Graphical presentation of methods in the desktop application is in progress
• Civil 3D functionality is not yet implemented
• Exporting data from next gen back to current Geosuite Presentation is not yet available

How to get started

The desktop application is installed as a click once installation, which means that it is installed once and then you will be notified of updates after opening the application. The link to the installation is accessed in the FAQ (LINK).

The web application is accessed through a website, and can be reached both on desktop, mobile and tablet.

The authentication for both web and desktop applications is made through Trimble ID. You will need to have an active license registered on your Trimble ID to access the applications. 

If you have no license, you can reach out to civil.support@trimble.com or ante_ledje@trimble.com and we can let you know who at your company that is responsible for handling the MVP licenses. 

Upcoming work and releases

We aim to continuously update both the desktop and web application.

The following areas are we now in discovery of:

• Open API. Making it possible to access your data directly from an API, allowing you to customize your own functionalities.

• Civil 3D functionality e.g. creating TIN-surfaces 

• Adding additional drilling methods (SPT etc), environmental analysis, measurement methods (Settlement measurements etc) and laboratory analysis (Triaxial etc).

• Exporting data from next gen Geosuite Presentation to current Geosuite Presentation

• Customized user settings, for example for drawing in CAD
