How can I convert a RCP, TZF or E57 to Potree format to use it in Trimble Connect?
Is it possible to move and rotate the point cloud (not the model) manually, after importing into TC?
...in a workflow like this:
Scan at site -> Import to Autodesk ReCap -> Processing scan -> Export to LAS / XYZ -> Import to Potree -> Import to TC -> Manually move / rotate into position
Reason is that we do not want to use global position because model is not on correct position (and don't want to spend time on correct positioning), and expect model and scan to be placed at different location, and no need for 100% accurate placement.
As I am familiar with pointcloud data process I think if Trimble now handles LAS/LAZ format the best way to overpass that global coordinate issue is to read in LAS/LAZ file internal metadata dedicated to COORDINATE REFERENCE SYSTEM (CRS), namely :A “WKT” bit that has been added to the Global Encoding flag in the Public Header Block. If this bit is set, the CRS for the file will be located in the WKT (Extended) Variable Length Records (EVLR, VLR).

Yes, it's possible. Problem is that point clouds are usually in world coordinates, i.e. in real coordinates. This means that they might be like 25000 km from the origo.
Models are usually created using their local coordinates, i.e. origo is somewhere close. This means that you cannot see them in these positions.
Now you need to move the model to same location as the point cloud is. Make sure the model is visible: Select the model in model list and then hit space bar.
Click the i-icon on the model in model list, then you should see "Move" tool. Click that, and pick one point from the model in 3D.
Now for the target point you need to switch to point clouds list, select the wanted point cloud and hit space bar. (Space will zoom to selected objects.)
And then select second point from the point cloud.
After this initial move you can then continue fine tuning the location.

It seems I can have a point cloud or a model.
We are working on getting the point cloud importing done. While that's not yet out, you can use PotreeConverter, that you can download from here:

Be sure to set your graphic settings to DirectX. My settings were set to OpenGL but I didn't see the pointclouds.
