Announcing Slope Measurements

A new feature for measuring slopes has been introduced in the Trimble Connect 3D viewer. This new functionality allows for quick and easy measurement of slopes in both your 3D models and point clouds, and these measurements can be saved like other measurements. You can find this under the "Measurement options" and then select "Slope measure".

Accessing Slope Measurement:

1. Click on the "Measurement options" icon.
2. From the dropdown menu, select "Slope measure".

Slope Measurement Options:

When "Slope measure" is selected, you can define how your measurements will snap:

• Snap to points: Measures slopes between specific points.
• Snap to lines: Measures slopes between lines.
• Snap to faces: Measures slopes across faces (this will result in a point-to-point measurement).
• Snap to center: Measures slopes between center lines.

Perpendicular Snap Options:

Additionally, you have perpendicular snap options to refine your measurements when measuring from or to a line:

• None: No perpendicular snap.
• Perpendicular at start: The measurement will be perpendicular to the starting line.
• Perpendicular at end: The measurement will be perpendicular to the ending line.

How to Measure a Slope:

1. Select your desired snap option (e.g., Snap to lines, Snap to points, Snap to faces).
2. Select your desired perpendicular snap option (e.g., Perpendicular at start, Perpendicular at end, None).
3. Click to define your starting point or line in the 3D model.
4. Click to define your ending point or line in the 3D model.
5. The slope measurement will be displayed as a percentage.

Measuring Slopes in Point Clouds:

The slope measurement feature also extends to point clouds.

1. Ensure you have a point cloud loaded in the viewer.
2. Select the "Snap to points" option.
3. Pick a point in the point cloud as your start point.
4. Select an end point within the point cloud.
5. The slope measurement between these two points in the point cloud will be displayed.
