Novapoint Road Library

Use this function to design road edge curves with two arcs.

• This program can be used in many contexts and for everything that resembles an intersection edge line.
• The program can construct a tangential connection of two arcs between any two line/arc elements.
• In addition, straight lines (tangent lines) can also be inserted before and after the arcs.
• The only requirement is that the angle between the lines is less than 200 grads.
• The resulted Road Edge 2R will be 2D drawings.

Run the function from the following location:

MOUS_ICO Toolbar: Not available from the Toolbar
MOUS_ICO Menu: Road > Intersection Tools > Road Edge 2R

Command prompts for:

Zoom/Pan/Snap/Make/Edit/tanGpnt/Initiate/Drag/unlOck/reFpt/draW/Quit/Vehicle/<Make>:

Use this option to select the two intersecting road edges for designing a road edge line.

Command prompts for:

Pick start edge line (turning right): Select the edge line for the right turn

Pick end edge line (turning right): Select the other road edge

A preview of the edge line is shown with the default values.

• The preview will be updated automatically when values are modified.

Use this option to select the design vehicle.

Command prompts for:

Select Vehicle Group: 0=BICYCLE, 1=CAR, 2=LORRY/BUS, 3=LORRY+T <1>:

Type in a value to select the design vehicle.

Use this option to change the radius of the arc element or radius of both the arc elements dynamically. The radius on the road edge is changed with the movement of the mouse.

Command prompts for:

Without iteration/<with Iteration&gt;:

Enter the desired option to continue.

Drag: 1=Radius1, 2=Radius2, 3=Both, 4=Return <2>:

Enter 1 if the starting arc radius and its tangent point are to be changed. Enter 2 if the end arc radius and its tangent point are to be changed. Enter 3 if both arc's radii and their tangent points are to be changed. Enter 4 in no change is desired.

Use this option to define the straight stretch at both ends of the road edge.

Command prompts for: Pick the end of the edge line: Pick the desired end point of the road edge line. The selected point will be end point of the straight stretch.

End by pointing: Pick the end point of the straight stretch. Novapoint constructs the tangent line. Repeat the same procedure for the other end of the road edge if needed.

Use this option to define the reference point.

Command prompts for:

Select a reference point: Pick the reference point from the drawing. Use 'Object snap modes' for precise selection.

Activate the option to calculate the radius from the tangent angle.

Use this option to edit existing 'Road Edge 2R' construction.

Command prompts for:

Pick an edge line to edit: Select the road edge to be edited.

Use the option '*1:' to define the radius of the arc elements.

Command prompts for:

Type radius R1 <17.85>: Enter a radius in meters.

Select the other radius and define the other radius.

Use the option '*c:' to define the perpendicular distance from the center of the larger radius to the end road edge.

Command prompts for:

Distance <15.76>: Define the distance in meters.

Use the option '*b:' to define the included angle for the arc with a higher radius value.

Command prompts for:

Type angle - beta (gon) <40.00>: Enter the desired angle in grads

The road edge line is drawn in the current AutoCAD drawing.
