Use this function to select the Standard and/or Type of the vehicle, for vehicle turning analysis.

• A user-defined vehicle can be created by creating a copy of a standard vehicle (using the 'Copy' tool) and changing the parameters using the 'Edit' tool.
• For each vehicle these values will be given:
  • Minimum tuning Radius (m)
  • Maximum turning Radius (Deg)
  • Time of maximum turning (sec)
  • Maximum angle between parts (Deg) (Vehicles with more than one part)
  • Vehicle dimensions
• These values cannot be changed for a standard vehicle. A copy (user-defined vehicle) must be made and then changed.
• Loads on the vehicle type for vehicle turn analysis can also be assigned using this function.

Run the function from the following locations:

MOUS_ICO Toolbar: Vehicle Track Analyzer: Select Vehicle
MOUS_ICO Menu: Road > Vehicle Track Analyzer > Select Vehicle…

The dialog 'Vehicle' will pop up.

The pull-down menu lists the road standards. Select the desired road standard.

The pull-down menu lists the types of vehicles (pre-defined and user-defined if any). Select the desired vehicle for vehicle turn analysis.

• For each vehicle, the following values will be displayed in respective fields under 'Forward'.
  • Minimum turning radius (meter): The vehicle cannot turn using a smaller radius than the minimum turning radius.
  • Maximum turning angle (Degree): The value shown here is the maximum turning angle of the front wheels from straight ahead to outer position to one side. If the maximum turning angle is changed (using the button 'Edit'), the minimum turning radius will be recalculated and shown at 'Minimum turning radius (meter).
  • Time of maximum turning (Seconds): The time of maximum turning is the time in seconds to turn the wheels from one outer position to the other. In the function 'Controlled', this value is used to calculate the path during the turning of the wheels.
  • Maximum angle between parts (Degree): This is the maximum angle between two adjacent parts of a vehicle, which consists of two parts.
• The active vehicle type's dimensions will be displayed in the preview.
• For pre-defined vehicle types, the above values and dimensions cannot be edited directly.
  • In order to edit the values, copy the pre-defined vehicle type that is to be edited, and edit the values using the button 'Edit'.
• For user-defined vehicle types, the above values and dimensions can be edited directly using the button 'Edit'.
• User-defined vehicle types can be created by copying a pre-define/user-defined vehicle type (which is closer to the desired one) and editing the dimensions and the values listed under 'Forward'.
  • Use the button 'Copy' to copy a vehicle type.
  • Use the button 'Edit' to edit the dimensions and values listed under 'Forward'.
• Total Length: The total length of the active vehicle is displayed in this field.

Use this button to copy/duplicate a pre-defined/existing vehicle and then edit the dimensions/values thus creating a user-defined vehicle.

• The dialog 'Vehicle - Copy' will pop up.
• The active vehicle type, which is being copied will be displayed in this dialog.
• The Standard and Type of the new vehicle must be entered.
• The first time the Copy function is called a new Standard must be created (pick the square box to the right). In later calls, this Standard may be used or a new one may be created.
• Standard: The standard, to which the active vehicle type is to be copied is to be selected/defined using the ellipse button.
  • If the active vehicle type is to be copied to the existing standard, the standard name is to be defined in the dialog obtained from the ellipse button.
  • If the active vehicle type is to be copied to a new standard, define a name for the new standard in the dialog obtained from the ellipse button.
• Type: Define a name for the vehicle being copied.

This button is enabled when a user-defined vehicle type is active. Only user-defined vehicles can be edited. The dialog 'Vehicle - Edit' will pop up with the button 'Edit'.

• Edit the desired values under 'Forward'.
• To edit the dimensions, click the dimension that is to be changed and edit the dimension.
• The dimension is stored when another dimension is picked.
• The vehicle will be stored in the same 'Standard' as the same 'Type'.
• Click the button 'Save' to save the values and exit the dialog 'Vehicle - Edit'.

• Only the user-defined vehicle types can be deleted.
• Pre-defined vehicle types cannot be deleted.
• To delete a vehicle type, activate that vehicle type and click the button 'Delete'.
• The active vehicle type will be deleted from the current standard.

Use this button to define loads on some of the parts of the active vehicle type for vehicle turn analysis.

• Click the button to open the dialog 'Assign Load'.
• Parts of vehicle: If the active vehicle type is having more than one part, browse to the desired part using arrow buttons.
• Load Type:
  • The Load is defined using a maximum of 4 points. Distances from the front end of the part and to the sides are entered for all 4 points.
  • The Load can be deleted or instead only marked as not used. In case the load is not to be assigned, select the pull-down menu option 'No Load' (default option).
  • The function shows as default the semi-trailer but a Load e.g. mirrors may also be defined for the tractor.
  • The location of the points is defined in the table.
  • The offset of the four points with respect to the left side and backward is to be defined to define the load area.
  • The blue rectangle in the right pane represents the load area (in top view) and the black rectangle represents the vehicle (in top view).
• Click 'OK' to confirm the loads.
