Trimble Connect Product Updates

Hello Everyone:

I am excited to bring Trimble Connect for HoloLens v 3.2 release to our customers. This is a significant release that closes critical market gaps and addresses specific field/site connectivity concerns raised by our customers.

TCH v 3.2 is now available in the Microsoft Store and can be downloaded on your Trimble XR10 and HoloLens 2 devices.

Over the course of this year my team has reshaped the TCH application to take advantage of the new functionality enabled by Trimble XR10 with HoloLens 2 and by Microsoft HoloLens 2 hardware releases.

What's new in this release

• Offline Mode (Phase 1) (Training Video)
  • Turn on the remember me feature during sign in to the app; download data locally onto the HoloLens in order to access and continue working during Wi-Fi disruptions on the site
  • Full Offline Mode: Will be available across several releases. In order to enable all features to work properly within the app in offline mode we will be building this feature in phases.
• Aligning a model to site using markers
  • Embed markers in the model using TCW: Enable Marker Alignment extensions for your Trimble connect project from TCW. Once enabled you can place one or many QR codes in the model and download them to print and post it physically within the site. Follow instructions here to enable Marker Alignment extension from Trimble connect. (Training Video)

  • Scan a single marker and auto align a model to the site: Using TCH you can now load the model that contains markers and align it in the physical space by scanning a single marker ( Multiple marker scan for alignment is coming next release) (Training Video)
• Fly Mode - Navigation through sparse models (Training Video)
  • Most MEP models don't have floors and/or walls. Teleporting through these models have been extremely frustrating for our users. We have enable both jumping between entities in the model with a single tap in teleportation mode and doing a fly through with a pinch and hold gesture to get around the model easily.
• World Locking Tools
  • We have integrated world locking tools (WLT) in the model viewer to improve model stability.
    Public Demo Data
• New improvements and additions to public demo mode models to make it relevant to our customer base.
• Large Model Improvement - User setting to adjust performance : detail ratio

Important Note: Due to significant changes in functionality between HoloLens 1 and 2, all releases of Trimble Connect for HoloLens v 3.0 onwards will be developed exclusively for Microsoft HoloLens 2 and Trimble XR10 with HoloLens 2. New versions will not be backwards compatible with Microsoft HoloLens 1.
