[Feature Request] Surface Manager and Surface Groups

  • 1.  [Feature Request] Surface Manager and Surface Groups

Good Afternoon, I've been using TBC for heavy civil construction for seven years now. I'm assuming I'm not the only one that could greatly benefit from having the ability to organize surfaces like we do layers.  At the moment we have dozens of surfaces for each BC file. It would be wonderful to be able to group them into OG, SG, FG, etc...

    Thank you for your time.

Definitely!  Surface groups and nested layer/surface groups have been on the asking list since about the beginning of TBC.  Each time the response is the same "We are working on it, we have a lot of to-dos, programmers are expensive,..."  I do think it will happen eventually I just don't know if it will be before I retire.

I regularly end up with 50+ surfaces in the same project. Having to rename all my imported surfaces with prefixes such as OG-<name> or SG-<name> gets quite annoying. Then, if I have enough that I want to organize the groups in specific order, I'll add alphebetical prefixes like "aSG-" or "bFG-". Please give us a surface group manager!

I whole heartly agree!  Don't forget that revisions almost always come a long and you need to track and retain these for evidence/proof.  Being able to keep them all straight would be nice.

100 % agree. WE (THE USERS OF TBC) asked years ago.... same as requests to fix the Layer Manager.

At this point I think TBC has been around for just about 15 years.  I would be willing to bet that we've only got 5 more years of development on it before its deprecated and they move on to the next greatest thing.
