    Hello,

I would suggest running the Trimble Office Cleanup Utility Download Here.

I have found that it is not uncommon to run into issues when installing major TBC updates, like going from the 5.3x version to 5.4 version. Running the utility above should remove all traces of TBC, using Windows add/remove programs doesn't remove everything. After you have run the Office Cleanup Utility try reinstalling 5.4. This has always solved issues like this for me in the past.

If you still have issues let me know,

    Shane Odenbach

We have tried to install the latest graphics card update available for "NVDIA Quadro K620" but it is still having the same issue.
The system also doesn't have any integrated graphics card as per checking.

    Processor : Intel(R) Xeon (R) CPU W3680 @3.33Ghz

Graphics Card : NVIDIA Quadro K620
    Driver Date : 9/30/2020
    Driver Version : 27.21.14.5671

I ran the Clean Utility and tried a install, Reboot etc. Also took the help of the local dealer support. Still no success.

I tried to get the help of our IT guys to resolve the issue. Above is their report.

TBC 5.40 is not working on my Desktop, whereas it is working well on my laptop. OS on both is Windows 10.

Its tough to say as it seems to be a hardware issue, the hoops exception is in reference to TBC's graphics engine, most likely some sort of driver conflict.

    1. I would start by making sure all of my hardware drivers were up to date along with the motherboard's BIOS.

    2. I would make sure that you run windows update to insure window is up to date as well.

    3. it appears that there is a new driver for your graphics card

    R460 U1 (460.89)  WHQL
    Release Date: 2020.12.15
    Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit
    Language: English (US)
    File Size: 469.7 MB

    4. After all drivers are updated, un-install and reinstall TBC.

If this does not solve your issues I would suggest opening a Trimble Support Ticket through your dealer.

Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.

The standard approach to these types of issues is to follow the path outlined below. What you are seeing is some kind of conflict between your System and TBC as we know that TBC works on most systems - but for some reason it is failing on your system.

    1) Check your computer suppliers website / support system for updates to your computer - System Drivers, BIOS etc. and install updates that they have for your computer
    2) Restart your Computer
    3) Check using the official Windows Update for any updates to your Operating System and install all updates available
    4) Restart your computer
    5) Check your Graphics Driver providers website for all updates to your Graphics Card and install all updates available.
    6) Restart your Computer
    7) Try TBC and see if it runs - if not then
    8) Deinstall TBC
    9) Optionally run the TBC Cleanup Utility to clean your system of TBC Installation
    10) Reinstall TBC from a clean download - during installation if TBC Installer wants to restart your PC then allow it to do that - don't hold it off till later
    11) Restart your PC
    12) Try TBC again and see if it starts

If it is still failing to restart and it appears that it is a graphics driver issue - you can deinstall your Graphics Drivers and Reinstall them - that sometimes will clear this type of problem

If the problem still persists after you have completed all of the above steps, then the only remedy is to raise a support ticket with your SITECH or Geospatial Dealer and have them work the issue on your behalf with Trimble Support team.

If I was to work with you on a GoTo Meeting, this is the exact process I would take with you.

If you got a corrupt downloaded file of the installer that can sometimes be the issue.

Sometimes after download of the installer I unzip the installer manually and try from the unzipped version as I have found the auto-unpack function to not work so well on some computers.

Also - when you say "it doesn't work" can you answer the following questions

    1) When you run TBC - does it get as far as the home screen or does it fail before it gets to that point?
    2) If it gets to the home screen - can you open a New empty project with any of the default templates?
    3) If it gets to the home screen, does it fail on opening any project or just specific projects?
    4) If it is failing on just specific projects can you share one of the projects that it is failing on?
    5) If it is failing on starting a New Project with a specific Template - can you try using a different template - does that also fail?

Seems like if you have tried all of the above that a GoTo Meeting may help us see what you are seeing, please answer the above and I will try to help you this week

Very thorough post Alan. I just wanted to reiterate what I had said on another post here, that is about trying TBC with a single monitor direct connection to your graphics card. I had an issue with a docking station that would shut down TBC immediately after a graphics draw on the card. It took me forever to figure out but when I directly connected, I was fine.

Agree. Docking stations typically use video out via USB, no the graphics card. We've had performance issues when those using laptops extend/move TBC (including a floated view) to a monitor connected to a dock.

Trimble thinks the issue is related to some conflict with a component installed from SITECH CS for the Australia NZ market as part of the TBC install package. They have requested that the user deinstall those elements from their computer to see if that addresses the problem.

Will let you know the outcome

Alan, I received this exact message from a trimble tech.
I have followed all of these steps and still have issues with TBC crashing.
I cannot run basic functions without it crashing. I have been working with trimble for 2 weeks on this issues and still no dice.

I talked this through with Chris on Friday and we deinstalled TBC ran clean up, restarted his PC and then did a clean install. TBC was working as normal when we finished up. He did comment that when on his office network TBC was freezing up all the time but at home it seemed to work better. He is going to try again after this clean install to see if it is now better again - I await to hear.

I have seen on my own setup that when I am in Corridors TBC goes into a massive slow down - when I close template editor TBC goes back to normal - I had put this down to just happening while using Go To Meeting or Hangouts meet or when using Camtasia to record videos - but have since found that it is happening all the time now - I disconnected from my docking station and monitors to see if that helped - it did partially. I took everything I could out of my startup programs so that only the bare minimum apps are running and I restarted and it appears a little better - I got an improvement when I disconnected One Drive I think - so be aware that TBC can apparently be influenced by other things running on your PC - but I am yet to find out why corridors specifically appears to be where it shows up most for me
Is anyone else seeing this in the Template Editor?

The exception looks like a video issue. Have you updated your video drivers ?

I agree with Jeff, make sure that your video drivers are up to date. Also, if you have both a dedicated graphics card and an integrated graphics chipset on your motherboard, the integrated graphics can sometimes cause conflicts. If updating drivers doesn't work and you have the scenario I just described, you may need to disable your integrated graphics.

    Hope this helps,

Adding to Shane's point, if you end up disabling your laptop integrated graphics card, there is a helpful tip of the week here outlining how to disable an integrated graphics card: https://community.trimble.com/blogs/erin-johnson1/2020/12/14/tip-131-disabling-a-laptop?CommunityKey=d961b046-1661-40f3-8d7e-0bde6866a14d&tab=recentcommunityblogsdashboard

By any chance are you using a docking station or screen splitter of any kind? If you have multiple monitors at your desktop, are they each connected directly to the graphics card? Try just one monitor if you have multiple monitors. Make sure that one monitor is connected DIRECTLY to the graphics card.
