I have had this error form trying to install TBC 5.4 on 2 different machines, a co-worker of mine is getting the same error on a third machine.

Unable to load DLL SDE_API_x65.dll
The dll file exists in the tbc dir.

One of my machines also says its missing "VCRUNTIME140_1.dll" and gives me the option of reinstalling, after that completes, it gives the error above, then repeats in a circle.
When I searched online about that missing file, its part of the visual c++ redistributes which were updated on that machine within the last week.

The install of TBC 5.4 seems to be affecting multiple bently products. Connection client, power draft and inroads.

Ive been using TBC a long time, this might be the worst release put together yet.

I never saw that issue before until just one of our Subcontractors updated to 5.40.
Uninstall, Cleanup Utility, Reinstall didn't help.

But your mentioning of the C++ Redist helped. Go into the TBC 5.40 Zip-File and run the file from the folder "VCRedist2015-2019_x64" and repair the existing installation. That did the trick for us.

Hey Mike,

The error has to do with the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2019 redistributable as mentioned. We think that another software (AutoCad, etc) update or possibly a windows update has caused the redistributable to become corrupted. This has happened in the past and we are currently looking into the issue.

There are several resolutions as mentioned, however the below has seemed to be the quickest for most end users.

The resolution is to repair the redistributable through add or remove programs.

Add or Remove Programs>Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2019 (x64)>Modify>Repair.

I got it to work finally by installing the cleanup utility, fresh install, then repaired ALL of the c++ components.

This is still VERY alarming that installing 5.4 caused my bently programs to stop working.  Power draft, Openroads and the bently connect client stopped working.  Geopak could launch, but in offline mode because it couldnt get a license through the connect client.

System restore to preinstall made them all work again.  I havent even tried updating TBC on my main drafting machine because I cant afford the risk of losing more time on these issues.
