Hey Carsten,
I would agree with what people have said above, when I cannot delete a layer it is usually one of these four issues.
1. Cad Blocks are assigned to that layer, explode these blocks and delete them. Sometimes you have nested blocks so I usually select by layer, explode, delete. then repeat until no blocks are exploded.
2. You have some data still assigned to that layer that you cannot easily see. Selecting by layer is a great way to isolate this data and remove it if necessary.
3. The layers are attached to an imported plan sheet. I generally delete any plan sets that are imported along side a dwg file that I have imported.
4. The layer may be protected in the layer manager, removing the protection from the layer in the layer manager would then be required to delete the layer. Note that the above issues must be rectified before you may delete an unprotected layer.

There could be data from imported file like blocks or text that you dont see. I found some linework in my sheet view that i had hiding from plain sight. I deleted those items and i was able to delete my layers as i was having that same issue. I will go find a link to one of A.Sharp's post about this. In the mean time check all your view types.

Can anybody help me here. I have a lot of unused layers but i am not allowed to delete them.
TBC says at they are protected or used, which they are not. Our local dealer are unable to help.
