How to remove point clouds outside 2D trajectory polygon?

  • 1.  How to remove point clouds outside 2D trajectory polygon?

    Hi

I need to remove some points outside the 2D polygon. How can I do that? I tried to find the way but I did not get it. Is there any way to remove points that have elevation data from 2D data? Fyi, I use TBC version 5.0.

    Thanks for any help.

    Hi Atika,

I'm not sure I understand the question.

Are you trying to remove point clouds or points? Here points mean individual points.

Are you trying to remove "points with no elevation"?

Are you trying to remove "points outside of a polygon"?

So I have point cloud data from MLS, I also have polygon which only has X and Y data. There is no elevation data in my polygon. I'm trying to remove point clouds outside the polygon based on X Y data. Can I do that in TBC version 5.0? Or is there any suggestion for this?

    Thank you

    Hi Atika,

Yes you can do it. Are you running TBC Survey Advanced edition? It requires a command from the Macro tab.

If you have the Macro tab in the ribbon, go there and choose PointCloud by Bndy. It asks for a boundary such as a polygon or any closed linestring. You have to be in the Plan View and in the Polygon Select mode.

With the point cloud highlighted, go to Point Clouds tab -> Keep In. Now the point cloud outside the polygon will be hidden. In TBC we never physically delete the point cloud, so if you simply want to keep a small portion of the data, keep it highlighted, then export this subset into a new point cloud file.

    Hi Rui Wu

I tried it and it worked.

    Thanks for solving my problem.
