Exporting Points/Attributes with Georeferenced Images from TBC

    Hi There,

First time post so I hope I am in the correct area.

I am currently collecting large amounts of site data using the R12 which consists mainly of Single attributed points with accompanying Geo-referenced photographs (taken with the TSC3) attached to said points. The ultimate goal is to export the Point numbers, Attributes, Image Names, Paths, and Coordinate Data out from TBC to an excel sheet which can then be used as the basis for import into a third party software.

However we are in the position now where we have duplicate points In addition to this I am unable to come up with a way that we can export this data out into a single sheet. The plan was to use Media Export in Access to provide us with a list of Point Names, Paths and Image names which we could then use to marry up the data with the points spreadsheet but the duplicate point names will now negate that, the only other option that I can see is to bring out the points and Attributes separately and then use the Georeferenced positions from the images, I would like to avoid this as there may be issues regarding accuracy of the geo-referencing due to human factor onsite.

I am trying to find and/or build a custom report that would allow me to bring this data out as one. so it would be a case of renumber points and export a report containing the info even if it is only Point Number, Attribute, Image Name, x, y

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Custom reports can only generate output to Word, you may be able to then copy and paste from Word into Excel, however we have a command that will output points and attributes to an Excel File - the command is called Points to CSV and is a macro command. I reviewed the output today and it will generate the point no, feature code, description 1 and 2 and the coordinates and then the attributes, file attachments etc.

I have a couple of questions as to what you need / want

Since each point code can have completely different attributes, the current routine we have outputs each point attribute into separate columns and each set of cumns is different for each point code so that each column of the output has only one type of attribute for a specific point code type - how would you ideally want the attributes arranged - eg from column K onwards each attribute 1 would be in K then L then M etc so that you minimize the number of columns or as we have it today where the attributes all have a unique column?

For the fike names of the images we use the filename.jpg for example and for the path do you want just the path to the folder or the folder including the file name. Our path name today is not correct so I need to get that looked into tomorrow.

However i think the report we can make do what you need easily - it wjll be a part of the RPS Modeling Toolbox of macro commands if you need it - let me know if you want to discuss or have me run an example for you - i am sure we can make it work if you need it.

    Hi Alan,

Thank you for taking the time to look at my request. I don't have an issue with it going into Word, as you say i can then export to excel. have attempted to write a custom report in TBC and i have managed to pull all of the information apart from the Image name (example.jpg) all i can do is inert the actual image.

For some data we have inserted notes in Access, I then revised the coding to request an attribute input for the points taken as the Note wasnt coming through as a displayed input. We are using a very simple code list comprising of 3 strings and 3 points, most of the assets we are picking up are identified by the Description/Attribute as all we are doing is an asset survey.

If you have a way of not only pulling down the  P,X,Y,Z Code, Description, Attribute but also a filename this is all we need. the data will be edited later and all of the images will be combined at the end and a Path will be concatenated to the filename at the end of the process, this will then be used to mass import all of the Attributes and Images using the relevant X, Y, Z  into a third party Cad design Software and used as an overlay in a federated Model.

    Thanks

    Kevin

    Alan,
Where can I find this report? I went to the Trimble Style Sheet website, but did not see that one.

The enclosed Point Card Report is a Custom Report that I use to do something similar - as I said in an earlier response, Custom Reporting outputs to Word, and it does not seem to allow the selection of File Path as it uses the Point List Report as its source data and that doesn't hold the file path for media files.

The Report Template I use for this is also enclosed if you want to experiment

The only way that I know how to get you specifically what you want is a version of the Points to CSV command and I think that needs to be fixed to write the file path in the right way (as mentioned above)

I will post the files separately as you cannot attach them here

    hi Alan

can you explain how I can export the point card report and if it can be exported from Trimble access directly, I have only the media file report and it contain the point name and the image path only

    thanks

    Hey Allen,

great stuff! One question I have is, how do I get it to report only the points with media files attached? When creating the custom report, I selected Point List as my source data, as it made the most sense from the options given. The problem is, it reports all points in the job and on larger jobs, freezes up.

    Any help is appreciated!

Going in to which cad software? That matters. One software I know, getting photos tagged to the points is very easy.
