How to get beter quality for background map?? Lets see the pictures, the map in TBC is very very very poor...

is it from google?.... how old is the map?

But we really could need WMS support in TBC.

There is a lot of government, cadastral, electricity data available as WMS. We can use it in Trimble Access why can't TBC do it?

The Propeller team is at least considering to provide those orthophotos in the future as WMS as well. So you might not have to download and import a lower quality JPG which blows up in TBC to a multi Gbyte .ovr. Which doubles up as copy on your drive each time you save your project with a new name, which I usually do every day.

Which leads actually to another point, that we really could use linking in TBC. Have your external data, or other sections of your large site, sitting just once somewhere else on your drive and just link it in on demand, especially background data like Orthophotos or neighboring corridors, not import them and bloat up your TBC project. You'll also run into issues with version control that way.

.... I can fly a drone....I can export kml and take a look at google earth everytime..... I can install a web cam there and have the most actual view of the area in question that I can and I can and import the orto in project.... I can work with data in other software with better bacground satelite view.... I can explode my imaginaton beyond borders of common human and be there myself.... I can change my occupation or get myself into a sect and let it be

I have proffesional and expensive geo-construction-soft.... I have one of the best geo-construction-softs in this time that should offer the best maps as it can    ......  I have good support by trimble team.... I can see it is possible to have WMS and good quallity of the map/maps in other soft...... I have the need

So I am asking why turists have better options/quallity (google and other map severs) for overview of the area in question than me who need it every day

If Trimble provides us a lot of information for free we won't buy their software to process pointclouds, or buy scanners and stuff to make our own....

Everyone see and take care for profit.... it is natural.... I hope for cooperative attitude of trimble development/support team to listen  users/customers needs

Hej Lubos, I apologize for my snarky comment that was written in spur of the moment. On the other hand there is no software that does it all. With TBC currently they are on their way to provide us with almost everything (either Trimble or RPS). For technical side of surveying if you need WMS you can always use it on Access (very usable on unknown terrain). Currently I use TBC and Microstation (with added Macro commands) that allow me to do my job in the most productive manner. This will be always the case, if you tie yourself to one software that does it all they can always charge you crazy amounts of money and you can not run away (happened this year with Autodesk and them raising prices for 30%). I can see on this forum people searching for added features for everything possible, so in that case there is no possibility that everyone will be happy, "always something will be missing".

It is ok Filip..... I didnt find the topic you mention, set "map" for searching....

As I wrote... TBC is geosoft, it is not a soft to listen radio or selling garden seeds...  so working with maps/wfs/wms should be the basis and it is worth to have it in good quality to work with... besides Access can use it.... I dont want all... I just want to get better using for TBC for all users by my remarks and suggestions... this forum is for that, isnt that?.. trimble should wellcome any ideas

I know a bit TBC.... I have new job now and there are two local geosofts our office use and now we are buying TBC.... I can see the hight level of TBC (and hight level of price) in comparison between TBC and the local softs and I feel shame that TBC can not handle with WFS/WMS and poor quality of backgroud map.... and I feel happy and proud to offer to my colleagues and my boss better/quicker/elegant ways of working with surveying data.... so it is not just technical issue

It is fine to read "It is on the list" or "We take a look of that"  its demotivating read only why it is not possible, not having the priority, price arise, "always something will be missing"..... I can understand that but it doesnt make any progress

the issue stays.... I think TBC miss it

Next issue.... I toggle map on and off and "zoom extents" ...it includes map segments for zooming as the added video shows 

I have next idea how to improve that....

left click on toggle button (the botton menu)... and right click could toggle  between /among maps....

what is your opinion?
