Points created - Not Visible

  • 1.  Points created - Not Visible

On an alignment that I have created, I created some points that are offset.  They are not visible.  I have tried creating them in multiple layers, new layers, etc.  I have double checked the "show Disconnected points" option.  I am using BC-HCE 5.0.  I can go into another file and create a similar alignment with offset points correctly, that are visible.

Commonest Mistakes / Settings that cause this are as follows

    1. The layer on which you drew the Points is Turned Off in the View that you are expecting them to show up in. Change the View Filter for the view to ALL and see if they show up. Because each View can have a different View Filter Assigned it is possible to think you are turning the Layer On / Off but doing so in the wrong view. Make sure that the View is Active by clicking on its TAB before changing the View Filter to ALL. Once you can see the points - check their properties to make sure that they are placed on the Layer you thought - it is easy to stick things on the wrong layer by mistake eg Layer 0 or on another layer because you clicked an object when the Layer control was active or similar, or scrolled the wheel while the layer control was active.
    2. At the base of the View Filter Manager check these settings and make sure that Show disconnected points is turned On.

    1. As Fred points out, in Advanced View Filter Settings make sure that Point is turned on in the Raw Data section
    2. In the View Filter Manager at the base of the view Filter Manager - In Display Options make sure that Zero Elevation Display Options is set to Normal  and not Do Not Dislpay or Do Not Dis[lay in 3D if the points that you are looking for are 2D
    3. The instant check that I always do is use the ALL View Filter - if they are present they will be displayed when you select that View Filter -you can typically work backwards from there

If you find another reason for why they were hidden, please post it here

    Alan & all,

Sorry for the delay in response, I found the issue in the Raw data.  That corrected the problem.  Thanks for all the advice.

I am having the same problem with a file of mine. The points show up in the "All" filter but not My Filter. Although they showed up earlier today, so I have no idea what setting I may have been able to accidentally change. Show disconnected points is turned on, Points are Visible and Selectable in the advance view filter Raw Data section, Display Options is set to normal. I even tried copying the "All" filter to a new one, and I still can't see the points in any view but the "All" Default.

Do you have any further suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Elaine

Do you have a selection set also applied in the view filter. Are the points 3D or 2D - if 2D you may have the Do Not Display setting applied in the view filter (at bottom in display settings)

Could also be that you have CAD Points turned off in your view filter - go to advanced settings in the View Filter and look at the CAD Data section and check that points is turned on

If these fail come back to us or as Tim requested share your file and we can take a look.

Are you sure the Layer is ON that the points are on - if the All filter is working but other Filters not then you have some additionalView Filter control being applied

My guess is that it is one of these

I tried all these suggestions and I still can't see the points. I sent the file to Tim to see if he has any further suggestions.

    Thanks,

You enabled "Show feature symbol only" and the feature codes were not processing, so you had no symbols.  Disable this last option and you will see the points.
