    Good morning,

I am trying to do a drafting sheet for a simple site.  I just want to have one plan view.

No matter what template I try to use when I make a new sheet view everything is blank.

    can anyone help?

Are you sure you have the correct layers on? I believe that the default layers for the standard templates begin with "!".

Also check the "View:" dropdown at the bottom of the Sheet View. You need to select the correct Plan Set to view.

    Robby,

Do you have a Dynaview set up in the plan view? Then you need to go to the project explorer, right mouse click on the plan sheet go to properties and set up the Dynaview and view filter. Once that is done, right mouse click and select build sheets. Then right click on the sheet 1 and go to view sheets. Also make sure that the view filter in the plan sheet screen is set to All.

Let me know if you have any other issues.

Did you get this working - if not here are some simple steps

    1. Import your drafting template (go to the Drafting Templates command and find the drafting template that you want to use and drag and drop it into the project).
    2. Use the Create Dynaview Collection command - this allows you to create some one or more Dynaview Frames (Reference Boxes) in the Plan (or other view like profile View) at a defined scale like 1" = 50' and place / orientate them to the layout required. You can keep adjusting the scale until you get a good fit to the data that you want to plot. Note in the Plan Set, if you are using any of the Sheet Sets that I created that are shipped with the product, the size of the frame space available is listed in the Sheet Set Name as a width and height value in inches. Use those dimensions to size the Dynaview Collection frames.
    3. In the Project Explorer, find the Plan Set that you imported in (1) above. In the Plan Set you may have a number of Sheet Sets defined, and within each Sheet Set there may be multiple Sheets defined. You should have a Plan Sheet  Set somewhere in that mix. If you select the Plan Sheet Set in the Project Explorer and then look at its properties, you will see that there is a reference to the Dynaview Collection that will be blank, use the pull down and select the Dynaview Collection that you defined.
    4. Now that you have referenced the Dynaview Collection, you can right click on the Sheet Set and select Build Sheets - that will build you the same number of sheets as you had Dynaview frames in your Dynaview Collection. You can select one of those Sheets (they will be listed under the Sheet Set) and select New Sheet View. This will open the Sheet View for that Sheet - you can change sheet using the pull down list at the base of the Sheet View,
    5. In the Properties of the Sheet Set, you will also find a View Filter that has been applied to the Sheet Set. This controls what is visible in the Dynaviews placed on the sheets. The Dynaview Frames that you placed in the plan view control "where" on the model is visible in the Dynaview. If you move the frame in plan view, the content of the Dynaview will change. If you change the View Filter applied to the Dynaviews that will control "what" is displayed in the Dynaview. If you are not seeing anything, change the View Filter to the All filter initially to see the entire data available, then create a View Filter as needed and apply that to the Sheets to control what is visible on the Sheets.

There are a number of videos on this subject as well as example Drafting Templates in the Blog Posts on Drafting on this forum previously.
