Are you able to export a pdf or jpg as geo-spatial reference so you can bring into software like Bentley, Terramodel or Autocad from Business Center - HCE?

I am trying to use BC-HCE content from a Project with other applications that my organization uses e.g. AutoCAD, Bentley, Terramodel etc. and I want to transfer Georeferenced images to those systems from Business Center - HCE - Is that possible?

    #pdf

    #3dpdf

This was a user question received earlier today via other means than the Forum, I am posting the answer here for the benefit of all users.

Yes - If you have the Image Manager Module, here are the options

    1) If you use the Capture Image command from the Plan View of a BC-HCE Project that has a Coordinate System or Site Calibration defined in the project, the image created will be a GeoTiff or GeoJpeg or a GeoPNG file. These should be usable in any of the products you mention.

    2) If you want to use Imagery in Google Earth you can use the Google Earth Command or the Export to KML/KMZ from a Georeferenced Project to create Georeferenced data usable in Google Earth.

    3) We can create PDFs of Plot Sheets and also of 3D Models (3D PDF). To do the Plot Sheets you would have to have the Advanced Drafting Module. To do the 3D PDF output you would use the Create3DPDF command and would need the Image Manager Module.

Had a request for this today, and need to test it out, but having some issues.

The wish is to export a georeferenced file to load in Avenza Maps.

When I do the Capture Image I get a:

    xxx.tif

    xxx.tfw

    xxx.kml

Dragging the .tif back into BC-HCE, it is placed correctly, but loading in Avenza Maps, I get an error it is not referenced.

They are asking for a GeoTIFF, or as a workaround a normal TIFF zipped with:

    .tfw

    .wkt OR .PRj

Anyway to get the .wkt or .PRj from BC-HCE?

Basically Avenza seems to need both the raster/vector data and the spatial information included in one file.

The Tif + TFW is what makes a georeferenced image same with JPG and JGW or PNG and PGW

I don't know the software that you are referring to but we would have to know what it does read - maybe you have to select the JPG and JGW or TIF and TFW files to get them to work - these are international standards that I assume most software can read (in the geospatial / mapping / GIS worlds

Try adding the TIF and TFW files to a zip file - that may work

Yeah tried adding both files separately, and also zipping them together, no luck though.

Here is what they say about the formats:

It is the need for a WKT or PRJ file with the TIFF and TFW or JPG/JGW that is the issue here - because they need the Map Projection so that they can compute the Shifts and Rotations whereas we place the Shifts and Rotations in the JGW or PGW or TFW file. If we have a projection we compute the Shifts from the Projection to WGS84 and put them in those files so we do not need the Projection information (this works for us and many other software products - that is the whole point of the PGW, JGW and TFW files) - I have never come across a WKT or PRJ file requirement.

We do not write a GeoTiff today at least

Sorry that I cannot help further - If you can get the format of the WKT or PRJ file you may be able to create it using Notepad for example - please post it here if you can get an example (f it is an Ascii type file) - If binary then I am not sure that I can help you any further.

You may be able to manipulate files to get what they need using one of the big Map Software products like ESRI or Global Mapper or Blue Marble to get what you need

Appreciate the feedback, I'll continue to work with it an update when I find a solution.

    Got it to work :-)

Managed to get my hands on a .PRj-file with UTM32 definition.

Zipped with the .tfw and .tif it works perfectly.

Seems I can't attach it, but is a simple text-file with the following single line:

    PROJCS["WGS 84 / UTM zone 32N",GEOGCS["WGS 84",DATUM["WGS_1984",SPHEROID["WGS 84",6378137,298.257223563,AUTHORITY["EPSG","7030"]],AUTHORITY["EPSG","6326"]],PRIMEM["Greenwich",0,AUTHORITY["EPSG","8901"]],UNIT["degree",0.0174532925199433,AUTHORITY["EPSG","9122"]],AUTHORITY["EPSG","4326"]],PROJECTION["Transverse_Mercator"],PARAMETER["latitude_of_origin",0],PARAMETER["central_meridian",9],PARAMETER["scale_factor",0.9996],PARAMETER["false_easting",500000],PARAMETER["false_northing",0],UNIT["metre",1,AUTHORITY["EPSG","9001"]],AXIS["Easting",EAST],AXIS["Northing",NORTH],AUTHORITY["EPSG","32632"]]

Now I just need the same definition for all of the Danish CS

FYI I just found a bunch of .PRj-files for download at:

    http://spatialreference.org

These seem to be user-uploaded, so I guess they will need to be checked. Although in this case they will only be used for navigating with a mobile phone.
