TBC 5.30 - issues

    1.

Ok, as posted before when working with version 5.20, I experience a simular problem:

In v5.20 suddenly the Plane manager-dialog wouldn't open. Not through the icon in the ribbon, not via selecting "new layer" in the Cutting Plane View... So, I've upgraded to v5.30.

In v5.30 the Plane manager-dialog did function again, but now I can't open the Layer manager-dialog. Not through the icon in the ribbon, not via selecting "new layer" in whatever dropdown-menu I can find. In the latter, I constantly get new layers like 'new layer 1", "new layer 2", etc. But I can't rename them, I can't import a layerset, I can't change linestyle, colour, etc.

    2.

Is it just me, or doesn't TBC remeber your setup on restart? Frequently I have to reopen the View Filter Manager.

Hi Nico, did you try to run the Cleanup Utility before installing TBC 5.30?

No, I did not. Good suggestion, but this means I can start over. OK, I'll try it as soon as I have the time.

Just my two cents: why has most software no need for a "cleanup utility"? If this is so important, maybe build it in the installer?

Ok, I've just found the time to run the Cleanup Utility, restart my computer and install TBC 5.30.

No change, still no Layer Manager...

Very mysterious: I've closed my current project, opened another and the layer manager worked again. No idea what was going on, but it works again. Just in case, I've opened the first project again and it still works. So far, so good.

And it's gone again. Just shut down my computer yesterday, restarted this morning and again no Layer Manager.

Very frustrating. Already tried opening another project, no luck, restarting TBC, no luck, closing all other applications, no luck, restarting computer, no luck.

TBC does save the size and location of each window. When you restart TBC, it checks if the window location is still valid and tries to place the window in the same location. When switching the number of monitors and monitor resolution, it may be possible that TBC doesn't realize the window is not visible.

Are you switching the number of monitors (dock/un-dock) or changing the screen resolution?

In any case, if the issue is due to the window being opened off the screen, then you can just delete the file that saves the window placement.

         1) Exit TBC

         2) Go to folder C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\Roaming\Trimble\Trimble Business Center\<xx.x>

(where xx.x depends on the version of TBC. Usually just use the highest numeric value)

         3) Delete file "User.options"

         4) Restart TBC

    Good luck.

Thanks, Gary. I'll check this out, as soon as it happens again. The layer manager has appeared again, so for now all is alright.

I've had a meeting yesterday with someone from Trimble and this idea also came up. You might be right that it is an issue with switching screens: sometimes I work solely on my laptopscreen, most of the time with a second screen that has a different resolution than my laptopscreen (laptop full HD vs second screen 4K).
