Can you use DJI flight software and drone to create point cluds in TBC?

  • 1.  Can you use DJI flight software and drone to create point cluds in TBC?

    I was wondering if anyone out there has or is using a DJI P4 rtk drone and DJI flight software to fly missions and then bring that info into TBC for processing point clouds, ortho photos and such?  If so is there a work flow for this?  Does it involve UAS Mater?  What licensing requirements do I need to do this?  I use this drone package to fly larger site to use with Trimble Stratus but I would like to save my limited processing through Stratus for my large sites and run my own processing on smaller sites.  In the past I have used Datumate but I would like to keep everything in TBC if at all possible.

    Thanks, Ben

    I am sharing the question with Nick Fifarek and Mike Tartaglia at SITECH Southwest as they have been doing a lot of good work with UAS Master and can likely help you better than I can on this one.

    There are some drones that can be used to process data directly in TBC, using your own site base station as a correction source... Wingtra being one of them.

    At the moment, the PPK/RTK Phantom 4 is not supported, however our team is striving to add more and more drones to this list as new releases come out.  Keep you eye open and don't be afraid to drop me a line to ask.

    As Mike said below, you can use TBC with UAS master to achieve what you are looking to do currently.

    Thanks!

    Nick,

    Is the Wingtra workflow, using your own site base station as a correction source, you are referencing via JXL import and ground control points or is there a PPK import workflow as well?

    Thanks.

    The Wingtra data needs to be Pre-Processed in the Wingtra software ahead of import into TBC...

    Can the Wingtra software allow users to use their own local base? I think so, but that's probably a question for Wingtra.

    So, if you are using a project that is already setup, you are good to go and can skip the calibration import.  However, a workflow that protects your project data that you deploy to the field would have you open up a new project, or create a new project leveraging you main project, first.

    Ben,

    @Alan Sharp

    Yes, you can process the DJI Phantom 4 RTK/PPK drone with UAS Master and TBC. I have developed a workflow that my clients are using.

    Requirements:

    TBC- minimum Surface Modeling. ( What you are looking to do with this info. Will dictate the modules needed.)

    UAS Master license added to your TBC key.

    Feel free to reach out to me with any processing questions.

    To find out about how to get the modules, and pricing. Please contact your SITECH dealer.

    Thanks

    Mike

    @Michael Tartaglia

    Would you send me the workflow you mentioned?  I'm wanting to do simple stock piles with no site or calibration.  I have stumbled my way through as far as getting a .dxf contours to then generate a surface.  It feels like there should be a simpler way???

    Thanks,
