Feature Request - Surface Groups

Just wondering if there were any plans to implement grouping systems within the Project Manager/Explorer

I have a project where I have upwards of 180 individual surfaces and could do with grouping them by function (e.g. Houses/Garages, Drainage, Roads, Service Trenches, Retaining/Screen Walls etc.)

At the moment I have to activate each surface individually, it would be useful if I could group them, I realise you can create multiple view filters and swap between them, but as I create new surfaces they activate on every view filter so each time I load up an older view filter I have to deactivate the new surfaces.

Ideally they would come up as a subheader under surfaces with an option to turn on everything in that group similarly to how the surface group itself works.

    Matthew

When you create a View Filter, Run the Advanced View Filter Settings and at the top of the dialog it offers you the opportunity to Lock the View Filter - but above that there is a check box that you can select to include newly created layers and surfaces. If you deselect the Include newly created layers and surfaces check box and then lock the view filter, you will find that the View Filters stay as you want them. If you create a New Surface that you want to add to a View Filter that is locked, then you need to use this Advanced View Filters function again to unlock the filer, add the surface and then re lock the view filter.

In terms of having Surface Groups - You arent the first person to suggest this, and I am starting to look at what is really required because we are also being asked to be able to have multiple Takeoff scenarios using different combinations of elements and surfaces as well - and this all needs to be taken into consideration.

Hope that this helps at least in some way.

Multiple Takeoff surfaces would be great!! Will definitely make doing a multiple phase job so much more efficient.

Alan,  I second the request for surface groups.

And I never thought to request multiple takeoff surfaces, but now that you mention it, that would be truly amazing!

I have requested Surface Groups through Sitech and now here.

I recently had a project with 53 FG corridors, 53 SG corridors, progress topo surfaces, existing ground, etc.

It would be nice to be able to group them. Groups could be hidden when not needing to turn them on or off frequently, this would eliminate a lot of scrolling.

I have tabled this as a request Eric.

As with all requests they get added to a master list (which is long) and we

hope to address some of these as time passes - however we cannot do

everything for everyone as you can imagine.

Please be patient with the development team, we / I hear you and we will do

our best to continually improve the product.

As always we appreciate the input - it is extremely useful to us.
