Agriculture + Businesscenter?

    Hi!

I know that this might be wrong forum but you guys are great so i start asking here.

I have a friend who just bought a tractor with things on it (look at the picture, i have no idea how to explain it in english ) and it has a really great trimble system installed. He is using it for new drainage systems.

I know that we can export .shp from Businesscenter and the guys in sweden who works with the Agriculture systems did look at my exports and said that it would work so i can export lines and points that he can use. When he has been using it and creating his own lines the system logs it and he can also push a button for "fence" or "rock". Thats perfect for asbuilt data.  All of the data that he created by him self seems to be located in the folder "planting" (lowest in the hierarchy) and the files i deliver just above that. And if i want to put in a folder with data, anybody knows where to put it?

Does anybody knows a way to import these files into businesscenter? Anybody in this forum that has been working with this before and can help me or tell me where to ask?

I will attach the folder from the machine here.

    Have a nice day!

    Frederik

I talked with my Ag colleagues this morning and I have sent them some data to look at and am waiting for a response from them as to best practice here. The initial response was that the customer using the machine would likely have the Trimble Ag Desktop software to go with his AgGPS system. In that software you would create the file system for the machine through import of the SHP files that puts them in the correct location such that when you write the "card / Stick" for the machine it comes out in the correct place. The folder system is

    AgGPS

       Data

The next level is the Client Name (Hermansby / Test in your data)

The Next level is Farm (1899 in your example)

The next level is Field (Slang Mellan Plan in your example)

The next level is like a Phase (Planting / Harvesting / Fertilization etc.) based on what I was told this am

The data (SHP files for lines for Trenches or seeding or tracking for other reasons) goes at the Field Level (they are going to send me screen shots and run some tests for me as to whether the SHP files can just be placed at the field level without the Ag Desktop Software or whether they have to be imported and then Output from the Ag Desktop software for the machine file creation - I will let you know when I hear from them - I will drop by the guys desk tomorrow again to push him for an answer. At first look he felt that you had to use the Ag Desktop software to organize the data as they need to create a Field Corner Location (that is used as the Origin for the field) and he didnt know if that could be auto extracted on the machine or not from a placed shape file).

Anyhow - this is what I have so far - will come back when I get more from the Ag team

    Thank you so much!

My friend just got the equipment when he bought the tractor (no software) and they can barely start a computer so it would be real nice if there is a workflow with businesscenter that works.

    Hi Alan,

I 'm strugling with the same problem. I work a lot for farms here in Belgium.

Lots of my projects are fields for planting trees, strawberries etc... when I make a project for levelleng a field for planting strawberries on poles, the customer want us to put irrigation pipes under the surface. Then I have to go in the field putting sticks to mark wher the poles can be planted because they don't want there tubes to be perfored with the poles for the strawberries.

Then comes a contractor with AGTrimble and he measures the sticks I put in the ground and tries to plant where it should be. Always troubles, the contractor does know sh*t about how to import, and I spent hours and hours correcting his work.

I tried several export of *.shp files and everything it seems not possible to import into AGTrimble.

I can send the project to you if you want to take a look.

I am still trying to extract a set of answers from an Ag Contact in Trimble - he tells me he has the answers he just keeps forgetting to share them with me. If I can get the answers I will share them with you. Sounds like a Business Opportunity to get a copy of the AG Desktop Software so that you can create these files for the Farmers in your areas .....

Appreciate that everyone wants everything in BC-HCE and if I could justify doing Ag Models over better Road or Site Models I would get this implemented, however unfortunately "Planting Strawberries" or any other Fruit and Veg is not a high priority for the Civil Engineering and Construction Division ....   but I will try to find you all a solution - I will need a lot of those Fruity Belgian Beers when we meet next ....

Good to hear that you are taking care of the world's supply of Strawberries Sofie!

    Best Regards

    Hi Alan,

    Thanks for your reply.

The beers will be ready for you when we have the chance to meet eachother.

I do not think you have to implement in BCE, we just have to find the right way to export files so they can be used in Farming machines just like we put data for machinecontrol on a USB stick (or TCC) that would be fine. We could reduce the error factor with 100%. Customer happy, me happy, and a great gain of time for me. Because when it goes wrong I’m out in the field a hole day long untill the planting is correct.

If someone could test this and tells us the correct workflow between TBC and AGTrimble without having to install AGsoftware that ‘ll be great.

I managed to get a hold of the Ag Connection today and we walked through the data that I generated for him last week. I generated SHP files from BC-HCE last week using Global LLH, Local LLH and NEZ settings. We tried all 3 options today and the Global and Local LLH worked exactly as planned, the NEZ he was not sure how to get those to work right (but they still showed up in the software (but maybe in the wrong lace in the world but that could have been an incorrect selection of UTM Zone during import.

The Ag Desktop Software will always be necessary to get the files in the correct structure and in the correct format. You cannot just place a SHP file in a folder and hope that it will work - there is some reformatting and restructuring that goes on in Ag Desktop, and they have to add a Field Corner identifier to the data so that it works correctly in the FMX Agriculture Machine system.

The Ag Desktop Software can be licensed on a subscription basis for $83/mth (in the US (I assume that in Europe it will be in Euros). It is available to order through the Trimble Agriculture Website as a package that includes the PC Software License and a Web Software toolset.

I had the Ag guy record the below video (apologies if it has us chatting while he was doing the demo to show the basic process.

The SHP file can include Area, Line and Point Objects, that once imported get mapped to Agriculture Feature Areas, Feature Lines, Feature Points or Guidance Lines. The Areas can also be used to define Field Boundaries. During Import you assign the imported data to a Field that belongs to a Client and Farm hierarchy. Once imported you select the data that you want and assign it to one of the above Feature Types for use in the field. There are some categorization and Naming options that the Ag team did not work out right while I was with them, so when we loaded the data to the Agriculture Control Box, the data did not show up - but they said this was their fault and that they would work out what they did wrong and get back to me next week ....

Anyhow, it looks like you can do work in Business Center - HCE, Output SHP files that through use of the Ag Desktop software you can manipulate for use in the Agriculture Machine Displays - however you cannot just copy and paste data into the correct locations in the file system and use data direct from Business Center - HCE.

Hope that this answers these questions - If you need a connection with the European Agriculture Team I can try to find someone for you to discuss next steps with.

    Happy Farm Management!

    Alan

    Alan,

    Thanks you for the answer.

I ‘ll look for a contact here in Europe (in the Netherlands I know a company) and ask for  the AGsoftware if possible a trial license to do some tests in real life conditions.
