OFFSET LINE (command) - Right Click Controls

    Can we please get the right click controls conformed, similar to the the majority of the others, by adding the Apply, Close, Close All shortcuts? Thanks.

    Hi Richard,

    Your screenshot did not come through or is no longer on the thread, can you confirm your request with the 'Offset Line' active, you want the 'Apply', 'Close', and 'Close All' options in the right-click menu?



    Have you tried the CAD Command Line?  Can offset a line in 3 mouse clicks. Launch > o > distance > direction.

    Yes @Joseph Blecha that is what is needed to conform the command to the majority of the other edit/cad commands.
    • I suggest you query whomever is responsible ​for the forum migration on the whereabouts of the original screen clip.
    • I'm fully aware of the command line and its use. That is not what this thread addresses. It's more about getting out of the command and not with using it, and UI/UX of course.

    Right click while in the majority of the edit/cad commands:

    now do the same while in the command pane version of the offset command:

    From the users perspective, the difference is an apparent oversite by dev. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't, but what it is, is an inconsistent, annoying production tripping point that needs to be conformed nonetheless.  UX is also an important consideration, especially to the users. Please resolve for the next update.

    It's the little things like this along with many other simple requested tweaks like the ability to toggle line marking on a per layer basis and making the ESC key ALWAYS cancel active command or deselect that would (at least for me) really make a difference in productivity and speed, more than many of the "fancy" features rolled out with updates.

    Is the list of fixes and improvements that Trimble is planning to introduce in the next version of the TBC a public knowledge? If so, where to find it?
    I found that not all of the changes make they way to Release Notes (i.e. ability to change initial and final surfaces for CFMaps)

    From what I have read through various community posts and having experienced myself using TBC, is that there has not been enough communication between the dev team and the end users when it comes to how command revisions/updates are approached.  I felt that with the original community forum site our concerns, requests, etc. were somewhat being addressed by the development team.  And then, similar to how the original community forum was "updated", we found more and more commands were being updated, or in some instances changed completely between software releases.  Currently along with the offset line command right click issue there is also a problem when toggling line marking it zooms extents, every single time.  Also cad grip snaps do not work.  What I would like to see is better communication between the dev team and end users regarding TBC command functionality.  Maybe have us sign up for a product review survey, or integrate a workflow review option within TBC, or have a preview of the changes between software releases so we can decide if it is worth updating to the next version.​

    @Matt Voge @Marian Plucinski @Gary Lantaff  Gents: I am in full agreement with the mounting complaints about new features not working while long time requests for improvements go unheeded.​​​ It seems the bugs in Version 5.4 have now exceeded the new features that were so loudly announced. This complicates working with TBC for everyone.

    May I suggest that we NOT continue this (short) thread but start a new one that addresses the UI inconsistencies as a subject?

    Complaints about feature bugs and UI inconsistencies are mentioned in many, many of the posts on this new forum and perhaps a thread addressing these shortcomings may (fingers crossed) get noticed and dealt with.
