Broken Georeference Images

    Broken GeoreferenceHello TBC,

Quick question for anyone who has stumbled upon this issue with using georeference image. I georeferenced my plans into my project as I normally would do and if I save and close out of my project for the day and open up my project at a later time, the georeference images disappear. I've been having this issue happen to me quite frequently and I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to reload the images back? I tried to rename the images to sheet numbers just incase if the images names were too long but that didn't work. Maybe the file path might be too long in the file structure. Any feedback would greatly be appreciated it.

    Chris

Here's a tip I have to avoid this issue:

Once you georeference PDFs, go to in "Project Explorer" under "Imported Files" and select the pdfs you just referenced (holding ctrl between them), then go to "Export" > "Construction" > "Trimble Project Link .VCL" and that will export a file that you can use as a backup in case they disappear. It's a band-aid to the problem but it only takes a few seconds and not that much of a hassle.

It may have something to do with the location of the images on your hard drive, is this file saved in any cloud program (Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive)? That might be the issue too.

The only thing I can think is that the link to the original image is broken.

If you check your options menu under project management, is the option to "Copy imported files to import folder" selected?

What version of TBC are you running?

What is the path to your images?

If it is a location that changes such as a mapped network drive you may loose the connection.  I recommend you store them on a local hard drive and make sure you use the archive command to create a zipped file with all the related files if you move folders.

I had this same issue on an earlier version of TBC.  The problem was that TBC used a temporary file to reference the georeferenced images and I typically ran CCleaner once a week which would wipe out the images.  I found if you re-import the files as you did before then they usually fell back into place (most of the time).  The file name and location of the pdf import had to be the same as before for it to work.  Hopefully this will work for you too.
