Data collectors have not worked with TBC since we upgraded to windows 10.  Is anyone else having that problem?

Our Yuma2 tablets and TSC3's don't show up in the device pane in TBC since we updated to Windows 10.

Hi, please, download this file: http://www.junipersys.com/content/download/13707/206847/version/1/file/WMDC-Helper.exe

Then, run as admin, and restart your pc and enjoy!

Thank you for the suggestion.  Our equipment vendor recommended this and it doesn't work.  It is sad the amount of money we pay for equipment that doesn't work the way we were told it would.

Another thing to try on the TSC3, go to Settings>Connections>USB to PC and uncheck the box for advanced. This should trigger Windows to use a different driver and has worked for me.

Hi John - we posted this Support document a while back in relation to Windows Mobile Device Center not working on Windows 10 version 1703. Is that the OS version you are using?

Does Windows Mobile Device Center run when you connect a Data Collector?

What you have to do is several things:

When you install Trimble Business Center, ver. 3.90.1, in Windows 10, the data collector may not be recognized.

If that happens please do the following:

    1. Login as Admin

Click on the Windows start menu and type “computer management” and open the app

Under Services, select "Windows Mobile-2003-based device connectivity" and "Windows Mobile-based device connectivity"

    1. Go to Log On and change it to Log on as "Local system account".

You will have to manually stop and restart both services.

With this option WMDC may or may not start as usual. If it does not, open a file explorer window and look under “This PC” for a drive titled “Trimble Navigation” that will be your Trimble device.

The second workaround involves making registry changes and has been reported as being more permanent than the first. If you would like the review the complete resolution from the source with the original links for the application downloads, here it is:

    1. Make sure the PC has Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 (install it if not)

Sometimes before being successful at installing WMDC, you must first manually enable the required

.NET Framework 3.5 under “Turn Windows features on or off” and/or by using the previous dotNetFx35setup.exe installer from Microsoft.

After install and once "Windows Mobile Device Center" appears in the list under the Start menu on the desktop PC, as is automatically applied by our "WMDC-Helper.exe" utility referenced above, you may need to run Windows PowerShell as an administrator to apply the following registry commands, and then perform a Restart.

    1. Open PowerShell as an Admin and copy and paste the scripts and run these two scripts on the target PC:
      • REG ADD HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\RapiMgr /v SvcHostSplitDisable /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f
      • REG ADD HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WcesComm /v SvcHostSplitDisable /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f

    1. Restart the PC

    1. After you have done all these things the Windows Mobility Center should start, but there is one more thing that you will have to do. You have to go into the data collector and change one setting.

Connect the Data Collector to the laptop by USB, then go to the Windows icon on the screen.

Then go to Settings, then USB and uncheck the box regarding advanced USB.

    Richard,

3 other parallel threads are going on and your steps above seem to be the most complete.   Suggest, somehow compressing the issue of connecting devices with Windows OS 10, to include both the mapping grade crowd and survey crowd.

This is a huge problem that needs to bypass WMDC altogether IMHO.
