Corridor modeling concrete median

  • 1.  Corridor modeling concrete median

This is my first time modeling a corridor using instructions. When I start my corridor the concrete median seen below has always been to the right of the alignment (magenta line). When the typical section changes the alignment is located inside the concrete median. If I insert an Offset/Slope instruction, the concrete median attaches to the alignment. In this case it is 6" lower than where it should be. Any idea how to get around this so the concrete median will model 6" higher?

I am not sure that I totally understand the question, however you could try one of the following or call me on my desk phone 303 635 8556 and we can discuss the issue in more detail - I left you a voicemail just a few minutes ago

    1. If your point has to be computed at an Offset / Slope but also at an elevation difference then you need to do the following
      1. First create a point at the Offset / Slope to get its horizontal position correct and its elevation correct but 6" low. The point being created here is only a "construction point" so you need to deselect all material Layers (ie Finish) in the list of material layers so that the instruction creates you a Point in space but so it is not assigned to a surface model.
      2. Now you can create a point using Offset Elevation from the "Construction Point" using a zero offset and an elevation difference of 0.5 or 6".
      3. In this case if you want a surface connection from a point 6" above HAL to the point at an offset and slope to the HAL and at 6" above then I would do option (2) below.
    2. You could also have done this in reverse - i.e. from the HAL you do an Offset Elevation instruction and use a zero offset and 0.5' delta elevation to create a first point (and do not include in a surface layer), and then create a second instruction at the Offset and Slope required and if the surface from the first instruction to the second instruction is needed then tag it as Finish in the Material Layer list

I am not sure that this is what you were asking - if it is something different can you call me or give me a little more detail of what you are trying to achieve here so that I can better help you

Let me know if this helped you so I can close out the question

Here is a short video that I hope covers what you were asking - if not call me on my desk number and I will try to give you a better answer
