yes, I was working with cad data and was cleaning up the existing field shot layers and the points were on a few different layers, hundreds of points with a lot of other unneeded stuff on the same layer (points were used in a surface), used the selection explorer after selecting by layers to get what i needed to delete and was thinking how much easier it would have been if protect points in use was an option just select all on the layers and delete but the points would still be there protected. also have deleted points in use before not paying attention by selecting by layer.
