Is there a way to create or edit a FXL file other than in TBC or manually in Trimble Access?

    Looking to create a new FXL file.  Is TBC or manually in Access on the receiver the only means of doing this?

    There is a standalone app called the Feature Definition Manager. You should be able to download it via the TBC updates. It maybe be already installed on your machine. 

     

    I did a quick search and couldn't find a web link to send you.

    I don't have TBC, should we have it?  In the last year we purchased an R10 with a TSC7 for substation and transmission line design work.  Was thinking I could import the data directly to Civil 3D or to PLS CADD and bypass the need for TBC, though for the cost, might be worth having?  Why I was asking if there was a way to create/ edit without TBC.

    If you download and install the free version of TBC from the TBC pages for Construction on Trimble.com you will get the Feature Definition Manager installed once you have TBC Installed. You can then use the Feature Definition Manager from your Start Menu - you will find it under Trimble Office in the list of available applications. You can also run it from the Field Data / Construction Data Menu Ribbon. If you import an FXL file into TBC then you will also get the Feature Definition Manager in the TBC Project Explorer which is the latest way to create the Feature Library. 

     

    So without purchasing TBC you can actually get this as Free Functions that support the field systems.
