I/O error: TBC cannot access file

Quite often, I will get an error message when I save a project stating there was a problem saving. I close the program and exit TBC.  When I try to reopen the project I get the following message:

I/O error has occurred. "the process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process."

I can copy the .vce project in Windows Explorer and the copy opens just fine.  When I try to delete the 'corrupted' project, I get the same message in windows telling me I can't delete because the project is open in another process.  This is definitely NOT true.  I have completely closed out of TBC when I get this message.  (I suspect it might be a windows glitch??)

TBC 4.0 /  Windows 10.  Any ideas?  Thanks

Are you working on a network? I get this issue when our network is running slow. It's updating on your local drive and network at the same time but the network lag makes TBC think it's open in another place.

Hello! Was beginning to think this only happened to me!

Yes, I am on network....  Your reasoning makes sense.  When this happens to you, have you found a way to re-enter the project?  Seems that once i get this message, I am permanently locked out of that .vce.  Fortunately making a copy of the file works, but then i have two of everything on a job and it takes up a lot of space.

Since i posted originally, I have found that if i close a project and then save on prompt, it happens less than when i just do a 'random' save while working on the project.

I had my tech guy go over everything too, but he is stumped.....

What you're doing is the same work around I've been using; make a copy of the .vce~ on my local drive and deleting the ~ character, then I can open it and just replacing the network copy when I'm done. Only thing is you loose any work you've done after the last save. I run into this problem more when opening a project someone else has created. I haven't figured out why yet. Our network is painfully slow. I hope our IT department can remedy that issue soon.

I have found that if i make a copy of the 'locked' .vce file by (right clicking on it and choose copy/paste) rather than copying the vce~  will generally have everything saved up to where I was when it locked me out.

I will float the idea of the local and networks saving at the same time by my tech guy and see if he can come up with anything on that.
