Suggestion - Point Id Snapping

When using the Create Linestring from Points by Point IDs, I think it would be beneficial to have the ability to select a point to get the point ID.  A user could then use copy and paste to manipulate the ending point for the linestring.

This would be useful for preparing as-built data.

    Thank you.

    Pat

This already does do this - I am not sure how you got yours to do what you did, however it looks like one of those "window focus issues to me" - if you click in the View Filter area or something - I think your "No Entry" will disappear. When asked for Point ID I can click the points on screen OK.

I don't know if that was the case because I only have one window open in my project right now, plan view, and I am still getting the "No Entry" symbol.

    Here is a video

You can still lose focus because the View Filter, Properties Pane and Plan are all Windows as is the Command Pane and the Command DIalog - try clicking in the areas shown in my Video to see if that helps

Thanks for that Alan but the issues is not with the Edit or create linestring command it is with the command "Create Linestring from Points" Cad/Lines/Connect Points. I was trying to use this instead of manually connecting the dots because I had a few long stretches of points that were sequential.

The field that you are asking to populate with ID is really not an ID Field - it is a range of IDs - the way to fix that would be to have a From ID and a To ID but that would only allow you to do one range at a time - in that case you could click in the From Field and then click on a Point and then the To field and click on another point and all IDs between would be joined in Numeric order. Where this field is asking for 23 - 56 for example it is not allowing the selection of an ID

Would the above answer your question?

I think if that was a third option, like you mentioned with the pick of a start and stop, that would work well. In many cases you are tracing along a linestring and hitting the start and stop. I would definitely keep the other two options as they are because they are very useful in certain applications.

    Thank you.

    Hi Alan,

When I try to use this command with a range of points, I get an error: "More than one point number must be specified in order to create linestring".  I created points 1-3 to test it with smaller IDs but I was originally trying to connect a series of RTK points.  What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks,
    Tyler
