Issues with identifying a site region

I am running into issues with running the identify site region on a sidewalk area. I am not sure why. Everything appears to be setup correctly. One of my theories is maybe it is because of the arc.

    I checked:

    • to make sure that I did not have overlapping linestring.
    • Gaps were reasonable
    • gap tolerance in Project Settings/Computations/Takeoff
      • I have this set at .05 currently but I also tried .15 with no difference to the area in question

It will work if you elevate the line but I do not always elevate my takeoff lines, especially in this case because I used a corridor to 3D model this portion. I will now run the risk of having to update this line if the corridor updates.

I could use a drape line elevating it based on the finished design surface but I feel like this is kind of eerie because you are creating a reference within a reference to form the end goal. Loop de loops. It is kind of like a nested IF statement in coding. It can work but it can also mess you up.

    Use view "Takeoff".

    Thank you!

Quick answer on this I hope that helps

When you have an Arc Element in the surface and you intersect that with a line, bear in mind that the Arc gets chorded, and if the line happens to intesect the arc at Mid Chord it creates a "Gap" that you cannot see in the linework. The way to fix this is to break the Arc at the point where the line intersects and then rejoin it - this causes a node in the arc that coincides with the end of the line and you will then have no gap. I had this issue a lot when I did the Beijing Airport Model and that approach seemed to fix the issue - while I wasn't specifically using Takeoff (just adding Site Improvements to areas, this was the main issue that I had.

Try that and see if it resolves the issue - if not let me know and I will take a look at the data you shared to see if I can track it down. Apologies that I have no time this week to spend time tracking these issues due to other commitments - hope that this does assist though

That is exactly what it was,

Thank you for that tip. I have been trying to use the track region more to quickly create enclosed areas but there are certain times where this tip will be very useful.
