Error when importing pnt file

    I get the following error message when I try to import he attached .pnt file.

     

     

     

    I can import other pnt files with no issue.

    You have one column that isn't tab delimited (8x6 tee).  I was able to drag the file into TBC after adding a tab after the description there.  

    I had trouble importing/dragging in a PNT file earlier this week which was exported from Earthworks.  I just made a new import format (which actually matched the existing PNT format) and it worked fine.  I don't know the issue.  Check Tab on 8x6 Tee

    Was this an Earthworks File Pat?

     

    Looks like maybe an issue with Earthworks writing the PNT File

     

    I can send it on to the Earthwork Boys to take a look at if this is the case

    Alan,

     

    Yes it was a PNT file from an earthworks machine. It looks like the operator added a smiley face in the description and I believe that is what was causing the issue.

     

    Maybe there needs to be a restrictions are characters that can be input in Earthworks.

    I think it might be the operator adding unrecognized characters. I deleted the smiley face and issue solved.

     

    We encourage smiles but they do not bode well in point files.
