Feature Request - Corridor Template Instruction Grouping

In the corridor instruction, I feel like it would be beneficial to have the option to "group" instructions by material layer or create custom groups that you can collapse and expand. Grouping by layer might be hard because thee are some instruction that are "associated" with a layer but are not necessarily part of that layer so they would there not have a material assigned to them. I could also see as going as far as to have a sub group for the left and right side of the alignment or for a specific set of instruction of interest such as a swale or sidewalk.

This would be especially useful for conditional instructions and keeping things organized. The corridor template tool is a fantastic tool but it is pretty easy to get lost in position.  The second imagine shows a concept of what I am thinking.

I have an enhancement request identical to this in the system Pat - I could not agree more with you. Good to hear it from a customer as well.

I would also like to Export / Import from these groupings so that you can save out partial templates that you can use to build future templates from.

    Thanks

I like the export/import by grouping idea. I totally agree. There are many case where a portion is the same such as highway work. The left side maybe identical across multiple templates but the right side could vary.

I am thinking eg Conditional Sideslope Blocks, Pavement Blocks with

    Subgrades already created  etc.

    Patrick, Alan,

We briefly discussed this at the tail end of PUG 2018.  Yes Yes Yes.  Would love to see this enhancement for Corridor templates.  Ultimately, similar function needed for Utility Trench templates also.

My work around right now, in corridor templates is to use conditional IF instructions, with a start and end, (that you can Name) that is always true, and then group template sub components into them.  Being able to Group and organize in a Tree structure would be much better.  And then further, export, import, saved Template groups even better again.  Cheers,  Jake

    Patrick, Alan,

Nate Nelson and myself were just discussing this or something similar to this just a couple of weeks ago.  We were discussing how it would be nice to possibly creating a vertical pane as well to separate the left of CL instructions from the right as well as what was discussed previously in the discussion of being able to see the SG commands directly below the FG instructions in groups.  I think it would go a long way in helping to keep your data organized and simplifies fixing problems if they arise.

I'll add another Heck Yeah to instruction grouping.  I frequently have corridors with 8 or 10 material layers (finish grade, binder asphalt, base asphalt, subbase aggregate, subgrade, undercut, surcharge embankment, retaining wall backfills, engineered slope fill material) and well over a hundred instructions that are very difficult to navigate
