It would be awesome if there was a quick move option for moving blocks around when setting up drafting templates and some model applications.

if you had items highlighted like line work for a locus map or tree and then hit a key, you could quickly pick you reference point and then quickly pick the move to point. Video shows this better.

Two options here Pat - if you make a Block out of the objects that you want to move around then once placed it has two grips - one for "Quick Move" and one for Rotation - this allows yo to rapidly move a set of objects around on your sheet.

Second option - draw the set of objects outside the Plan Sheet - use a shape as the limits of the set of objects and then use the shape to create a Dynaview in the Sheet. The Dynaview has 3 Grips (Position, Rotation and Scale that you can use to move the objects around on the sheet with.

I think either of these approaches will do what you are trying to do and will give you the "Quck Move" Grips that you are looking for

Here is a video of how to do that - failing that you can Hot Key the Move command (I use CTRL M) and that calls up and then you have to Tab Tab to get to the From Field and To Field to move the objects. The Move Command is a Context Sensitive Menu option when you have objects selected.

Another thing I thought of was instead of a block that you have to create, re-import, delete original components, move and potentially explode to edit any sub entities, what about grouping items? They would move as a unit but allow you to edit them independently. 

Not sure I know what you mean about Re Import - if you create a Block (this

is a Named Group) and as soon as you select Insert Block, it is in the list

of blocks in your project. You can then move it around as a Group and if

you want the pieces back, just explode it again. Selection Sets maybe a

better way to go if you want a Group function - that does that already.

trouble with a Group is that not all members may be visible so you have to

be a little careful

Aah I am seeing what you are doing. Use the space outside of the sheet. The dynaview trick is close to the grouping I was referring to and gives you more flexibility to edit. 

Grouping is already possible with Selection Sets - that is a Group - you still have to move the Selection Set using the Move Command or by making a Block or Dynaview out of them - the challenge with moving a selection of objects (by giving it a grip - you can all but guarantee that the automatic Grip point will not be on the entity node that you want it to be on - the beauty of a Selection Set is that while it groups the data together, it still lets you move it from wherever to wherever and allows snapping to any object node in the selection set etc.
