Corridor Template - Offset attached to line tolerance

  • 1.  Corridor Template - Offset attached to line tolerance

I am trying to tighten the horizontal tolerance of a corridor model in curved areas where the model is following arcs of an attached line.

The only way I found to tighten this is up is to change my sampling size from 5 ft to 2.5 ft. This project is not super large so this would work without any serious repercussions that I can think of.

Is there another way of adding more sample in only areas where there dramatic curves and arcs? Perhaps not because this is only an attached line offset and not the master alignment.

    I tried:

    • Project Settings
      • Corridor
        • Sample distance - worked but not necessary for the whole project
        • Surface edge angle - no benefits seen by changing this to a lesser value
      • Surface
        • Horizontal tolerance: I reduce this from .01 to .001 and no difference
    • Surface
      • Densification
        • Densify Surface - No difference when turning this on
        • Changing the tolerance - No difference

    Thank you!

This is an area that I still need to get addressed for the Modeling Accuracy. There are a couple of ways you can do this

    1) Drop a Reference Template at the start of the Curved Section, then change the Properties of the Template to Use This Template for Interval rather than Project Settings - and then you can densify for the range of that Template only - you can drop this Reference as often as needed and change these properties to get more nodes through the curved sections

    2) You can create a New Instruction in your Corridor Model (make it the first instruction), and make it an Offset Elevation Instruction from the HAL with an Offset Table. In the Offset Table list all the extra station drops that you want e.g. every 2' through the curved sections of the offset lines) and make the Elevation Delta 0.00. You do not need to have this node in any Material Layer - its presence will force drops wherever you list one in the offset table.

While neither is ideal, both work well. I have this already on the list of things to still resolve for Corridors.
