Is there a way to drape an image over a Surface? This does not have to be exact, just to give it some texture. I am trying to prepare a couple of concept deliverable to a client. I am using a Lidar surface and Google map images.

You can add image into a surface using the Add/Remove Surface Members command.

And then change the Surface properties to show by Material (or was it Surface Color - without checking I cannot remember) to make the image show up draped on the surface. This applies to Images and PDF Pages (draping a PDF Page is a great QA tool if you have never tried it).

Select the Image in Project Explorer / Imported Files, use Add / Remove Surface Members as Karen suggested, and select the surface - easy process and great results. It uses whatever image resolution you have. The image will be auto cropped to the surface extents in this process.

If you don't have an Image you can load the Background Map Service and select Satellite View and then do a Capture Image command from the Background Map Service - while lower res - it is also a way to get an image if you don't have one for the Project.

Can also add 'Surface Texture' from Surface menu ribbon.. Search the interwebs for seamless textures.

I’ve used the surface textures pretty extensively. They work well for presentations.

My issue with them is that there is not a great way of exporting textures from TBC to other platforms such as Trimble Connect or SketchUp. I have tried as a SketchUp file and vcl with no luck.

I would love to be able to view a texture models on my Hololens that I created a model from TBC. Currently, you just get the color.

Exporting to and presenting from Sketchup is another great option for deliverable. As well as texturing, you can add machinery, vehicles, vegetation, etc.

I tried to drape an image on a surface, in TBC 5.32, It does not work. In version 5.0 I am able to drape images on surfaces.
Is there a different procedure in version 5.32?
