Bug? - Merge Surfaces - Textures - Areas that don't fill

  • 1.  Bug? - Merge Surfaces - Textures - Areas that don't fill

I have a merged surface that I am trying to apply texture to. For the majority of the surface, the texture works well but the areas where I merged the second surface, the surface is not accepting the texture.

    Is this a bug?

I tried adding breaklines with the sharp and texture boundary on and this still did not seem to work.

Composing this post, I noticed other issues with merged surfaces and textures.

The boundary lines you are using to isolate the islands that you want to merge get carried into the merged surface.  If you display just the drapelines you will see them.  They are not independent of the surface and cannot be edited.  The merged surface is essentially fixed.

If you set the text of these areas before you merge the texture gets taken along for those areas.  You can then texture the remaining areas.

For more flexibility you would need to explode the surface.  The current functionality is by design.

Ok. That makes sense with an explanation.

I actually like how it works because if you have surface 1 with texture and surface 2 with texture, you don't have to reapply textures after you merge them. Shown below.

The new explode macro would be a quick fix to the problem I am having. Also, I think I could create a new surface an add the merge as a member.

Your textures look great! Please share with the forum if they are not protected by copyright.  Here are some more textures that have grass, water pavement.
