Feature Request - Drive Model

TBC has the ability to drive an alignment but in other CAD software programs, you have the ability to drive the vehicle around wherever. Agtek and Carlson are 2 programs that support this.

The value in this is getting perspective of the model that may not be alignment based. The other value is if you can change vehicles; grader, truck, dozer, you can show scenarios and how work is intended to be performed.

User input; have the user choose the model they want to analyze and this is what the vehicle would use for the height.

Just choose a surface instead of an alignment? They've always had that option. It's always been a dozer as long as I can remember.

Oops missed that one. Thanks Erik

It looks like my dozer is stuck on an island though. I don't think this function likes surface islands and I cannot find a way to set a start position. It looks like it defaults to the relative middle of the overall model.

Bring back the emulator that was built into SiteVision Office.

TBC's current option of "driving" the surface or alignment needs work. I don't see an option to select a vehicle (dozer).

It’s only on plan view. It is also a little faulty. I keep getting half a dozer.

I also haven’t found a way to set a starting point.

Just click location in the bottom left, then click location in the plan view, no?

Ugh. Yes that worked. Was looking on the other side of the screen and totally missed that.

Coming from Civil 3D object viewer I couldn't be happier with the viewer in TBC

Totally agree with you. I use the free 3D view all the time and it is great. I was trying to make a presentation video and was stumbling with the drive view. Part rushing, part lack of use.

I must really be missing something - other than being like a video game - what is the value of the 3D Drive over the site vs the freeform fly around the site you get in the 3D View - I have never understood what value was derived from the SiteVision Emulator or from the Agtek drive around the site or Carlson Drive around the site thing - it all seems pretty pointless to me - but maybe you all have some real use case for where it is important and I am just missing it totally.

Sorry for my stupidity if it is glaringly obvious

I think it helps to give perspective on some jobs. You can gauge size better in the drive view because you have a reference point that moves dynamically around the model with you. You could do something similar with the 3D view but you would need to have a block that you would move around as a reference height.

At least for me, that is where I can see some value.
