Exporting KMLs - Too many vertices are created

  • 1.  Exporting KMLs - Too many vertices are created

When exporting a linestring ass a kml, too many vertices are created. this is a pain when trying to use this kml in other software such as drone mapping software.

Is there a way to reduce the number of vertices created? Am I missing a setting?

If I am not, please heavily consider because this would help speed up workflows from office to field and back.

You may be able to try doing project cleanup and do the filter line vertices.

Pat, I have run into this same issue with using an exisiting linestring as a flight boundary. What I do to avoid that is use the Polygon command to draw a new boundary with only a few vertices as needed (looks like 12 will do it for your example). I am exporting the KML into the DJI Phantom 4 RTK app with no issues so far

I have a video made for the process. Send me your email and I'll be happy to share

@Pat L'Heureux Here is how you fix this issue.

Once this is set, export out your kml. Import it back into TBC and do an edit on it to make sure that you have lest the 128 waypoints. If you do, import it into your drone.

    Hope this helps!

I am marking this as not correct for now because I feel like this is just a workaround that will ultimately mask the true issue.

I don't think I should have do do this every time I want to export a kml, especially if the there is no elevations, and then the caveat is I have to remember to change this back. To much room for error.

As of right now, the fastest way I have found to accomplish what I want is to export the kml and retrace in Google Earth.

We are pretty busy with end of the year wrap up but I want to investigate this further.

WOW!  I was just sharing a workaround that I found. Never said this was the fix or the correct answer.
