Importing a block made from a hatch into TBC?

I have 30 bollard blocks that an engineer appeared to create a block from a hatch. You can import the blocks into TBC but when you explode them, there is no usable data left.

In Civil 3D, you can explode the blocks, you are left with 30 hatches and then there is a way to create the bounding polyline but I have to do this for each block and this is painful.

Any tricks to this I am missing to import this into TBC to get usable data?

I was able to open the autocad dwg in autocad light edit the hatch and recreate the boundary and then be able to import the polylines in to TBC from the dwg file

You had to do this for each one though correct? I don't believe you can mass edit. At least not in Civil 3D 2021.

no when I edited the hatch it did all of them because they are all the same block or hatch

OOOOO, you edited the hatch and then that updates on the blocks. Sorry out on site and reading these on my phone.

    Thanks!

You can do them all at one time in the "hatchcreateboundary" command.  As long as they are exploded.

I think that might be a Carlson tool and not an Autodesk tool. I tried to type in that command and it wouldn't work.

You may be right.  I didn't think about that.  I forget which ones are Carlson and which ones are not.

Try Hatchgenerateboundary in Civil 3D … I'm going off of memory but I think that is a Civil 3D command.

Yes, Hatchgenerateboundary does work in Civil 3D

That did the trick. I was trying to use the one in the hatch ribbon.

Apparently these are not the same. I was using the one in the ribbon as I am not a huge Civil 3D power user. The joys of software.

Thank you everyone. I hope TBC supports this odd block type in the future. #enhancementrequest
