Feature request - New Command - Offset by slope and Elevation or Delta Elvation

Similar to the the function found within the corridor template editor and side slope editor, I think there is value in having a command that would allow you to:

    • Select reference linestring
    • Set a slope
    • set a delta elevation or set a desired elevation
    • Offset the referenced linesting to this new calced position

This is very useful in tie slopes.

Isn't that what the "Offset Slope" macro does? Except it only offers vertical offset, not target elevation.

But better double check the result at corners. On a quick test it seems to look funny on a corner if the offset is to the outside, but I haven't done any check calcs yet.

Thanks @Ronny Schneider that is close to what I want.

@Gary Lantaff could you add the ability to use this command but instead of setting the horizontal value users could set a desired delta elevation or hard elevation.

Offset Slope is actually trying to compute the slope between the two selected lines and project that out for a distance from the source line - i.e. extending pavement grade out by a distance.

This is what Sideslope or Corridor Model does but then you need a Template.

Offset Line could have that capability i.e. Offset and Slope, Offset and Elevation, Offset and Delta Elevation with a single constant value along the entire length. As soon as you want Tables or 2D line attachments or 3D line attachments for the Slopes or Elevations or Delta Elevations or Offsets then you are into Sideslope or Corridor I think.

I will request this again - have asked for this in the past and if no success we can likely write a TML for this one easy enough.

I forgot that you can do this in Offset Line command - in the Vertical Offset Field because we know the Offset Value you can enter a % or Ratio Slope Value in the Vertical Offset Field and it will compute the VD for you ie if you do a 12' offset and type in 3:1 you will get 4' as the value.

That is a useful trick . Thanks!

Also in the Offset Field if you were given Delta Elevation (1.5') and Slope (2%)  you could e.g. enter 1.5/0.02 and have it compute the offset for you.
