Feature Request - Utilities - Tie Node Rims to a Surface

Please consider adding an option that would allow a user to tie the rim elevation of a node to a surface.

This would help when designing and when changing the model to make sure that entities are updating correctly. There is also not a way to currently select multiple nodes and have them elevate to a surface or delta elevation.

    Thank you!

I agree with you @Pat L'Heureux. It’s very time consuming when dealing with for example revisions and you have to manually change the rim height of all manholes. And doing it the manual way makes a big risk of you missing one manhole or two when updating. Great idea of tying the structures to a surface.

In Trimble novapoint you associate utilities like this. You tell the software which surface to tie the trench to( like TBC) and what surface you want the structures to tie to.

It looks like there is no way to run a report either that will compare your rim elevations to a surface.

    Reasons:

    • Check your work
    • Check engineer's data ( ran into this today)
    • Estimating

You should be able to tag a target or reference surface for nodes and have this show up on the takeoff report.

Somethings similar to the points to surface command would also be useful.

Actually there is a trick to do this but there are a few steps:

    • Isolate your nodes
    • Export these as a dxf
    • Import into a new drawing
      • You now have points for your inverts and rims
    • Import comparison surface into TBC
    • Use select all
      • Filter with Point ID
        • Regular expression and use rim
    • Use points to surface
