Is there a way to copy a point cloud within TBC or would I have to export and re-import? 

I want to keep the original scan but I also want to have a scan that I can cut out areas and show modeled surfaces through  for QA/QC, deliverables, eye candy, etc. 

You can select all of the data from the scan that you imported and use the Create Region command to move the data into a new point cloud region. That clears the default region and any other regions that came in with the original data. You can then import the file again making a copy and repeat the process and if the first file import you gave the region a name like Original, then the second file data you can give it a name Copy Original. You can then do whatever you want to the Copy Original because the Original file data you also have in a separate Point Cloud Region.

There is no way to copy a Point Cloud Region as far as I know
