3rd party point cloud and orthophoto

    Hello,

I have a subcontractor who does deliver me point cloud (.las) data and orthophoto from Pix4D.

Because I am used to TBC which I use with my own ZX5, I like to work with those delivered point clouds in TBC as well.

Problem: The point cloud nor orthophoto are correctly inserted into the drawing.

I did select the right coordinate system. (EPSG 31370)

In civil 3D both files are placed correctly when I do insert it, so the files seem ok...

Can anyone help me with this?

I can send the .las file (wetransfer)

    Kind regards,

    Frank Christianen

Please share the file with me directly (alan_sharp@trimble.com) and I will take a look - I will need information as to where you expect the points to be vs where you are getting them - you can draw me a polygon of where they should be in e.g. Red and where they are in e.g. Blue so I can see the error you think is occurring

Are you setting the Coordinate System before importing the data or after you import the data as that may make a difference. There is a help document that the Geospatial Team wrote relating to Point Clouds and Coordinate Systems - I will share that here as that may resolve your issue - I have to find it however so please bear with me on that

    Can you advise

    1) Are the Ortophoto and point cloud in the same place but wrong place in TBC?

    2) Are the orthophoto and point cloud in different places after import?

    3) When you say they are in the wrong place - can you state where the "Right Place" is

    Please advise

    Alan,

    Thanks for your answer already.

    The answer to your questions:

    1. The orthophoto and point cloud are on the same place, but wrong place
    2. The orthophoto and point cloud are on the same place after import
    3. With the wrong place I mean that they are both not imported on the right coordinates

Because of this problem I can not do my volume calculations because the rest of the drawing is on the right coordinates.

I wil send you a separate email with the data and some screenshots.

    Kind regards,

    Frank

Are you setting the Coordinate System pre import or after import. I enclose here the Geospatial Help Technical document on the subject of Point Clouds and Coordinate Systems. Please take a look at this and let me know if it answers your question. If not I will endeavor to look at this in the next week, however I am tied up with Training Contracts over the next 10 days so please bear with me on this - I will do what I can when I get the data to review
