Line Tables

I have started using the advanced drafting mode in TBC 5.0.  The blog post Alan Sharp put up has been a great help.

I'm trying to create a Line Table for the sewer lines on a project.  How can I make the table show the actual line names,

such as "Storm Sewer #1, Storm Sewer #2,  etc.  Instead of auto labeling them in the table as L1, L2, etc.

Unfortunately this command was written by the Geospatial Team for tabulation of lines around property etc and tabulation of Utilities was not even possible at that time (Utility actually came after this tool was created and it has not yet been refreshed to meet the needs of Takeoff or Utility Lines).

Each Utility line however has a Linestring that runs the length of the Pipe or cable and you can report them, however you would have to edit the text in the table manually to reflect the pipe or utility line names.

You could try running an Area Length Count report to generate the report that you need, and then you can paste an image of the Spreadsheet Contents into the Plan Sheets if you are using the Sheet Creation Process. Copy and Paste of Text from an Excel Spreadsheet is also possible, however I don't believe that the spacing of the text will be suited to building a table of data.

Could you define what you are looking to put in the Table for Utilities and I will see what we can do to make something happen here on your behalf - i will see  what work around if any I can come up with for you

    Alan,

Thanks for the quick response.  (I though I was the only one with this BC addiction, to work weekends !) I normally only use BC for takeoffs and machine control models.  I'm currently, putting together a set of plans for a project I'm "designing and bidding".  It has about 10 storm sewer lines.  Would have liked to use the table function, to use the name and length, like I use the polygon table for lot names and sizes.

I have found a work around.  I use smart text and get the line name and length, of each line.  Then just use polylines to build the "table" around it.  It's not the elegant solution, but it will work for the little bit it need.

Once again that for the help and attention to this forum
